I came across the dwads/decanates issues again, a few days ago, in a synastry article, and re-interpreted each planet's position by mixing the sign traits with the decanate traits, with the dwad traits, and it's soo accurate and complex.
Here is a general article about duads: www.starlitpath.com/articles/duads.html , and here is a duad table: koti.mbnet.fi/neptunia/dwads.htm
Aaand here is a great decanate site: www.elbertwade.com/page109.html
Now, try to interpret every planet by sign, decanate, and duad.
I'll go first.
My Sun is in Pisces, Scorpio Decanate, Scorpio Duad, which explains the emotional intensity and innate skepticism. I've never fitted into that "trusting fish" mold most astrologers always paint for Pisceans.
My Moon, Mars, and Jupiter are all conjunct in Gemini, Gemini Decanate and Gemini Duad! Which, again, explains why, unlike most Gemini-touched people, I have no other reason for using my wit but the wit itself! All my Gemini stellium energy is directed at "polishing" the rational processes which make the mind.
My Mercury-North Node conjunction is in Pisces, Pisces Decanate, Aries Duad, which explains my "Pisces, and proud of it"-way of expressing myself, unlike the quavery, unsure, mumbling Mercury in Pisces most astrologers depict! Not to say I alwaays express myself loud and clear, but that I'm more likely to growl, than mumble! HAHAHA.
My Venus is in Pisces, Cancer Decanate, Virgo Duad, which is just..sad, but true. LOL. I am nurturing and protective towards those I love, and always a bit self-sacrificing (Virgo Duad).
My Saturn and Neptune are in Capricorn, Taurus Decanate, Taurus Duad, which would explain...my striving for material comfort, rather than professional success?
My Uranus is in Capricorn, Taurus Decanate, Pisces Duad, which would explain my...mental/emotional instability? LOL. Or maybe the impossibility of forming shallow relations.
My Pluto is in Scorpio, Pisces Decanate, Taurus Duad, which would explain..my earthy sensuality? as well as my artistic passions, rusty as they are...
My Ascendant is in Virgo, Capricorn Decanate, Aries Duad, which, again, is pretty self-explanatory. Basically says no matter how many blows I receive, I can never let go of myself.
And, last but not least, my Midheaven is in Gemini, Libra Decanate, Sagittarius Duad, which explains...hopefully a job implying use of social skills and lots of travelling.
Your turn...

Re: Planets in signs-all the way! -> decans, duads(dwads)
Wed, November 4, 2009 - 1:20 PMokay okay.
i also have the sun in pisces/scorpio decanate thing going. i can be very insecure and loose sight of my own abilities at times, feeling pity rather than pride for who i am, getting jealous in the process...so this is relatable for me. my sun is in the aquarius dwuad... makes sense again!
moon in libra, in the aquarius decanat and pisces dwuad. duh, those are my sun/moon/rising signs anyways
mercury in aries, in aries decanate and gemini duwad .. i dont know about the gemini, ive never been able to relate to that sign...except for the scattered impatient feeling, but that could be said of aries in general, but maybe these two combined make it more so, but i also have harsh aspects to my mercury in general, so i dont know if this is anything new, just the same affirming ideas.
venus in pisces in pisces decanate in aries dwuad, hmm again nothing new! i dont know! my venus is already in the 1st house, closest thing to my asc, and aspects a lot in my chart, even squaring mars ...so same ol...
my mars is interesting, its in scorpio, in the pisces decanate and in the taurus duad, the taurus thing seems totally relevant for me! i am not as sexual as the typical scorpian mars readings go for, and i am more laid back with artistic temperament, like a taurus ..rather than a penetrating scorpian passion ..i do have this quality at the same time, but not as much as you'd think. i am definitely filtered through pisces/taurus
thats all i feel up to... im not so good at this, but maybe this will start some discussions, as ive set the bar pretty low with my boring surface level interphretations

Re: Planets in signs-all the way! -> decans, duads(dwads)
Wed, November 4, 2009 - 2:27 PMI looked at duads a couple of years ago and I didn't find it very accurate on myself and the people I know so I discontinued my study on it. But I'll try and look at myself again and see how I feel about it.
However I have a real issue with decanates based on the simple fact that I think the middle degrees of each sign - 10-20 deg should be the decan of the sign itself and not the first 0-10 because I really think the middle degrees of each sign are the strongest in it's influence since it's in the middle and thereby the least influenced by the previous and next sign! I get annoyed that the average astrologer can't see this.
Anyway, following the lesser decanate rule (no offense to you mantis naturally):
Sun - Cancer - Scorpio dec - Sagittarius dwa
Moon - Scorpio - Scorpio dec - Aquarius dwa
Mercury - Cancer - Scorpio dec - Scorpio dwa
Venus - Cancer - Cancer dec - Cancer dwa
Mars - Cancer - Pisces dec - Gemini dwa
Asc - Virgo - Virgo dec - Libra dwa
Jupiter - Aries - Sagittarius dec - Aquarius dwa
Saturn - Sagittarius - Aries dec - Gemini dwa
Neptune (incl because all of my opps to it) - Capricorn - Capricorn dec - Aquarius dwa
Beginning with the decans:
While it's flattering that I get many scorpio decanates (since scorpio is one of my fav signs) I still think the middle degree should be the sign itself.
That aside, I can compute a scorpio decan for my sun and mercury for instance + jupiter in the sag decan (although that could be that my jupiter already resides in the 9th) although a pisces decan for my sun would fit as well as scorpio if not better (even though the middle should be the sign itself - cancer - and okay I've said it three times now) and I think my venus decan would fit better in pisces.
As for dwads, I still don't relate to my dwads.

Re: Planets in signs-all the way! -> decans, duads(dwads)
Wed, November 4, 2009 - 7:01 PMI rarely pay attention to decanate stuff, and pretty much only when it comes to the ascendant. I feel about them, the same way I do about persona charts - it really just makes things more complicated than they have to be.

Re: Planets in signs-all the way! -> decans, duads(dwads)
Wed, November 4, 2009 - 7:14 PMWell, doing this exercise certainly didnt help clear up my career/vocational direction foggyness.
But hey, I got to color in a chart and go, hey, this goes here and that goes there,..

Re: Planets in signs-all the way! -> decans, duads(dwads)
Wed, November 4, 2009 - 7:39 PMOn the subject I tried out the regular sign order and matched them with every element, like this:
Fire:
first decan - Aries
second decan - Leo
third decan - Sagittarius
Earth:
first decan - Taurus
second decan - Virgo
third decan - Capricorn
Air:
first decan - Gemini
second decan - Libra
third decan - Aquarius
Water
first decan - Cancer
second decan - Scorpio
third decan - Pisces
I found this to ring much more true!
Also, within my family + relatives I also see a pattern of having mercury in the 3rd fire decan and sun in the middle fire decan and so on. With the "regular decans" the signs were spread all over the place. It's still not spot on but I find it to fit better than the traditional decans do. I'm going to look into this more and put the ruling sign in the middle... I've done this before but I have so many astrology calculations and notes that I have no idea what my conclusions, if any, were.

Re: Planets in signs-all the way! -> decans, duads(dwads)
Thu, November 5, 2009 - 2:28 PMWell, it seems like most things were accurate, but I wrote the descriptions myself, and that might explain it. This is the major drawback of astrology. You can always find something that fits no matter what you're looking at.
Sun in Aries, Sagittarius, Pisces
I live and work towards a ideal reality.
Very true.
Moon in Capricorn, Taurus, Gemini
I try to control my feelings by avoiding them, making them feel insignificant and by figuring them out. I rarely act on them, except in silly ways.
Also quite true, but I have a 3rd house Moon.
Mercury in Aries, Leo, Leo
I speak with honesty and with proudness.
No news, but true. I have a 5th house Mercury though.
Venus in Pisces, Scorpio, Capricorn
I am a quiet observer in social interactions, and I only express my love when I feel secure, but I love deeply and unrestricted.
Definately hit it on the head here.
Mars in Gemini, Gemini, Virgo
I have a lot of mental energy, and I tend to analyze situations before I act.
I've always related strongly to my Gemini Mars, but I'm not sure what to make of the Virgo part, because it doesn't really contradict my over-analyzing tendencies.
Jupiter in Aries, Leo, Leo
I am honest and fight for my sense of morals, spirituality and beliefs.
True.
Saturn in Sagittarius, Leo, Leo
I feel a responsiblity of being more adventurous and to express myself.
True.
Uranus in Sagittarius, Leo, Libra
I rebel against ppl who restrict my freedom or tie me down in unhealthy surroundings.
True.
Neptune in Capricorn, Capricorn, Pisces
I work hard and plan well in order to reach my goals, but I can get lost in my dreams sometimes.
Very true, but I'm sure a Moon/Neptune conjunction can have the same effect.
Pluto in Scorpio, Scorpio, Aquarius
I grow as a person by compulsively trying to pave out my own path in life.
I can definately relate to the Aquarius part there.
Ascendant in Scorpio, Scorpio, Sagittarius
I am reserved, act on instinct, and rarely let ppl come close to me, although I like my fair share of adventure.
Well, I like taking long strolls.

Re: Planets in signs-all the way! -> decans, duads(dwads)
Fri, November 6, 2009 - 3:20 PMOk... I'm probably not gonna do my whole chart here, but I'll at least start with the basics and see how far I get:
Sun (and Uranus), Scorpio/Pisces/Pisces. Yes, I'm obviously a Scorpio, but definitely lean toward extreme compassion and the idea that "we are all one" in a sense. I like to lose myself in layers of sound and "suffer" from environmental sensitivity. I like the dream world and especially how it can combine with the awake world. A feeling of dissolving or losing borders is typically the most common thing that I try to express.
Moon, Leo/Leo/Libra. I suppose this pushes alot of the same things mentioned above... watery expression of emotions and dissolving. The Libra maybe adds a little rationality to my emotions... an ability to step back from them a little more than a typical Leo moon, but still an absolute need to express myself emotionally.
Ascendant, Aquarius/Aquarius/Aquarius... yeah.
Mars, Leo/Leo/Virgo. Impulsive? Yes. Impatient? Yes. But the Virgo does add some patience and perfectionism to that impulsiveness. I do actually tend to act with some forethought and a focus on efficiency and perfecting things. Probably partially responsible for making me a little more cautious than you'd expect from someone with Mars in Leo.
Venus, Libra/Gemini/Gemini. Don't know what do say on this one, but I do find Geminis damn sexy. And I do seem to partner well with Geminis... both other members of my band are Geminis.
Jupiter, Cancer/Cancer/Virgo. My "morality" certainly does revolve around the idea of "nurturing" each other, emotionally and physically.
Saturn, Leo/Aries/Cancer. I don't know... a combination of being very driven, but also compassionate... a "nurturing" aspect again... wanting to be sure that if I "succeed" I bring others with me.
OK, that's enough. I'm gonna leave the outer planets out of this one.

Re: Planets in signs-all the way! -> decans, duads(dwads)
Fri, November 13, 2009 - 7:43 AMWell, I never learned what are duads. I only study decans for moon, sun, and ascendant signs.
My rising sign is Taurus, in 1st decan (Taurus). I am almost everything that describes a Taurus and/or a Taurus riser. i.e: stubborn, materialistic, beauty-conscious (but not to self), etc.
My sun sign is Libra, in 3rd decan (Gemini). I'm a very curious individual. I could be described as a Jack-of-all-trades or a polymath. I love learning about almost everything. I also love to talk in personal conversations.
My moon sign is Sagittarius, in 1st decan (Sagittarius). I don't know much about that, but I do know that I love to travel and explore. I also crave knowledge and wisdom; love education.

Re: Planets in signs-all the way! -> decans, duads(dwads)
Sun, November 29, 2009 - 8:31 AMI have been fascinated with Dwads ever since I discovered them but I avoid touching them because they're like raw skin, I think there's where my frustration lies.
I think my subconscious is getting after me for not following my intuition.
I'm a libra sun-mercury and mars (all in my 10th house) and I'm pursuing a career in Law but I really want to be a writer.
Sun in libra, gemini dwad
Moon in aries, scorpio dwad
mercury in libra, scorpio dwad
venus in saggitarius, aquarius dwad
mars in libra, aries dwad
jupiter in cancer, scorpio dwad
saturn in capricorn, aries dwad
uranus in capricorn, capricorn dwad
neptune in capricorn, aries dwad
pluto in scorpio, taurus dwad....
I can't interpret them "objetively"....

Re: Planets in signs-all the way! -> decans, duads(dwads)
Sun, November 29, 2009 - 8:39 AMI think it shows how I want to be perceived, as an obscure Scorpio writer (Gemini) not the responsible Cap ascendant
