Wed, October 17, 2007 - 9:24 PMIt's in the way they present themselves.
They way they treat others.
Their outlook on life.
People with a big fat ego annoy me,
it gets in the way of a lot of things.

Re: scorpios:what's the difference btw big ego and confidence?
Thu, October 18, 2007 - 8:02 PMNot a Scorpio, but I'm going to chime in anyway...
The ego gets a bad rap in new agey circles, but the ego is simply our awareness of ourselves as individuals, apparently separate from the rest of the universe. The ultimate truth is that we aren't separate, so eventually we realize that the ego is an illusion and it dissolves away. But while we are in these bodies having this experience of life, the ego is very important to our emotional health and survival.
Scorpio is the sign of emotional survival. In Jyotish, Scorpio is a Brahmin (priestly caste) sign, like all the water signs. This means that Scorpios are innately spiritual and philosophical. They have a need to process their emotions so that they can reflect on the true meaning of their experience in a profound way. However, Scorpio is the only water/brahmin sign that is also tamasic. The tamasic signs (Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, & Aquarius) deal with identifying the hazards of life and trying to prevent them. The tamasic signs have more inertia and are more reactive in general to life events. So again, it all comes back to emotional survival. Scorpios are identifying the threats to their emotional and spiritual well-being, and then doing anything and everything to destroy those threats.
The ego, represented by the Moon, is innately vulnerable. I mean, if the whole idea of the ego is that we feel separate from everything around us, you can't get much more vulnerable and insecure than the perspective of the ego. Scorpio is the sign that is most aware of this part of our human experience, and so they are programmed and designed to protect the ego at all costs. For this reason, the sign where the Moon is weakest, the Moon's debilitation sign, is understandably Scorpio. Scorpio Moon people deal with this reality in the most challenging way. Scorpio Sun and Scorpio Rising will still feel it, but not as profoundly as Scorpio Moon.
So, to answer your question, the difference is fear.
By "big ego" I am assuming that you mean an ego that is somehow dysfunctional or inappropriate in its expression. When a Scorpio feels emotionally threatened, they may move into the realms of behavior that cause the ego to get a bad reputation. However, when a Scorpio feels safe and respected, understands their need for emotional survival, and honors their own emotional and spiritual journey, their egos get expressed properly as self-confidence.

Fri, October 19, 2007 - 3:08 AMgot 4 placments in scorpio (including sun)
personaly i dont have much ego and i dont feel im better than others.. sometimes i feel more of the opposite.. nor do i have the greatest confidence or self esteem.. but when time calls,i might do things that seem to come from a place of confidence and all that, but its actualy from a place of "now its the best chance to do it" or "i gotta do it now" or "i wanna do it now"
people think the scorpios are full of ego and confidece, its not true, we can be as shy and with low self esteem as virgo but we dont admit it much..
well me i got a virgo rising so it empowers it i guess, but i think i know what im talking about..
David - wow, i got a heavy tamasic influence.. virgo rising, scorpio stellium, capricorn stellium and aqua north node if it realy influence..
and yup avoiding troubles is an art i try to master everyday..
the "real me" is a person with no ego who enjoys the most at a friendly enviorment wich supports me and i suport her..

Re: scorpios:what's the difference btw big ego and confidence?
Fri, October 19, 2007 - 10:48 AMI don't think Scorpios have big egos.
They are just very sensitive...and VERY complex.
They're not so afraid of being wrong as of being weak.
Since knowledge is power (as they say), they don't want to appear stupid.
It has nothing to do with how they appear, because A SCORPIO WILL PRETEND TO BE WEAK IF IT MEANS THEY WILL WIN!!!!!!! (Remember that).
And they don't want to win because for winning's sake, they want to win to keep from appearing weak. Beacause they are sensitive (very sensitive), and they can be hurt like anyone else. Everything they do (as a Scorpio) is to divert as much attention from this fact as possible. If they know they can trust you, youwill se a side of this person that no one else will see, and you will see that ego has nothing to do with it.
The Leo ego is different.
The Leo ego is one that needs to be better, smarter, stronger, faster...and be recognized for it. Leos truly enjoy admiration while Scorpio just wants to avoid appearing weak.
So...take a look where Leo is in a Scorpio horoscope. (FYI, it rules their 10th House.)
Scorpios just need to APPEAR as Leos in public, but what they do behind the scenes is far more important.
There is a very important relationship between Scorpio, Leo and Pisces...as Leo is THE "ego sign" but Scorpio has Pisces on its 5th House of creativity and self-expression (where ego is also at home). Note that Leo has Pisces on their 8th house...which is naturally ruled by Scorpio! So this creates a unique trinity between Leo, the most egotistical sign and Pisces, the most "selfless" sign. Scorpios are people who really understand that the ego is a practical tool for self-defense, while to a Leo it might be more like a cherished toy.
Very mysterious connections, my friends.

Re: scorpios:what's the difference btw big ego and confidence?
Fri, October 19, 2007 - 10:54 AMGreat post FJ! I agree with what you said. I think most people don't realize how sensitive and vulnerable Scorpios are. They appear tough and strong because they have to be in order to protect themselves.
One thing I forgot to mention in my post is that Mars is the traditional ruler of Scorpio. While the Moon represents the ego, Mars represents the assertion and outward projection of the ego in the world, otherwise known as our "strength of character". So Scorpio, ruled by Mars, is about protecting and championing that vulnerable self-awareness shown by the ego/moon, just like how a knight in shining armor defends the honor of the queen.

so,
if pisces sits on their 5th house - then naturally there 'should' be free flowing creative expression btw them. i would think even more so if the pisces has a 5 thouse leo, but instead it has been the opposite extreme imo. very strained expression of sharing, etc. maybe because the scorp extinguished the 5th house leo ego and need to share and shine coupled with the piscean sensitivity? the outcome always was that of very stiffled self expression for the pisces around the scrop. the scorp control in this case was the worst...
we're onto something here... -

Re: scorpios:what's the difference btw big ego and confidence?
Fri, October 19, 2007 - 11:52 AMI think that through Pisces, Scorpio wants the activity of 5th House to be full of sweet surrender, unconditional love, gentle understanding...but the vulberabilities implied by these force them to be deceptive (Pisces). Since Leo naturally rules the 5th House, but is displaced to the 10th House in Scorpio, then "ultimate power" expressed as a publicly impressive ego becomes the decoy. This is NOT what Scoprio wants...just what it thinks it needs to do...and maybe in some cases it is right. -
-
Re: scorpios:what's the difference btw big ego and confidence?
Fri, October 19, 2007 - 12:08 PMBut IN that case, the Scorpio will suffer from superficial Leo lessons if they don't play their cards right. They will know what they did wrong immediately. It would be more out of carelessness than the actual deeper lesson that a TRUE Leo is just beginning to understand. The Scorpio will just realize, "oops. I didn't get the balance of ego expression quite right in front of the bosses...and now they think I want recognition. Shit! I didn't want to attract that much attention to myself!" The Scorp just realizes that expressing it is something you have to do in order to get ahead sometimes.
Now, see...I have Sagg Rising and my own 10th House is ruled by Virgo, one-after Leo. I know that my "getting ahead" depends on me showing attention to detail and a scrutinzing eye. I do it to get ahead...but unlike the sun-sign Virgo, I don't egotistically care about really BEING that person (the Virgo personality) and being known among my peers for it. I just do it to get ahead in my professional life. Virgo represents the best avenue I can instinctively see for my advancement in the world. And that's what Scorpio does with Leo on the 10th House.
Yes, thank you...I KNOW I'm right! ;-)

Re: scorpios:what's the difference btw big ego and confidence?
Fri, October 19, 2007 - 6:32 PMDo you mean the seeing through to the truth of an ego??
I'd say yes. While others may see a strong willed person full of convidence, The scorpio energy would see through the mask or preseted confidence, and see it's real "hiding behind the front"..
I do this at time w/o even realizing it till later. Make a comment of the top of my head and get a reacton that doesn't make sence. later understand, I touched something.
Plus this energy just loves to knock an ego off it's pedistal... Ya know, if it's not Real, scorpio Will expose it..

Re: scorpios:what's the difference btw big ego and confidence?
Mon, October 22, 2007 - 5:08 PMMmmm....no.
I don't feel like I'm on a see saw.
However, my Scorpio Moon is square tomy Aquarian Mercury. The extreme emotional intensity of my Scorpio Moon can't always find the right outlet through my scientific analytical Aquarius Mercury. I often find myself analying emotions alot. I think some good comes from it, and it also costs me in some ways.
Recently I loved what Allan said in another post about Mercury taking on the guise of its closest aspecting planets. So maybe my Aquarian Merc kind of becomes a little like Mercury in Scorpio...but with a more systematic logical approach. I think if anything, I get a bit of conflict from being VERY emotionally intense and having my mental processes always effected by that...where I should be more detached because my Merc is in Aquarius. It's funny how sometimes I become absent minded (Aqu) when I'm pissed off stewing (Sco).

Re: scorpios:what's the difference btw big ego and confidence?
Mon, October 22, 2007 - 5:17 PMI think I see what you're saying now about ego vs. confidence.
Are you kind of implying a Martian competetiveness...similar to Aries?
So that anytime someone else knows something and states it matter-of-factly, a Scorpio might feel threatened by the knowledge of that person and resent that they shared it so openly?
I noticed that in Leos sometimes, when they suddenly realize they might be in the compny of someone who knows something that they don't.
Well, anyway...the thing with Scorpios is that oftentimes they think everything everyone else does is done deliberately to gain an upper-hand over them. Hey, let's face it - the unenlightened Scorpio is a bug who is trying not to get squashed. The un-enlightened ones perceive all outside behavior as being potentially threatening. They are somewhat paranoid that way, and they have vivid imaginations which often imagine that there are sinister or devious reasons behind the actions of others.

Re: scorpios:what's the difference btw big ego and confidence?
Mon, October 22, 2007 - 6:00 PMfj, what i'm asking in this post, is:
can scorpio men tell the difference between someone's ego and someone's bubbling knowledge and excitement of sharing...or something like that. something that is definately not a 'bad' ego...
for example, i can be very outspoken, i can go blissfully and with lots of excitement into sharing information, for free, because i like to share...because i feel that it enriches other's around me. i dont' feel like i have to hold all my cards to my chest, and feel confident and comfortable that i will not 'loose' anything through this process.
this is my aries/pisces way of expression. there is no bait, no furhter cause, nothing but raw expression of joy, or whatever i'm expressing.
i do find, a lot of times that scorpio men in my past have taken this as a negative. again and again. as if it was my big ego, which they immediately shot down. this is how i know they mistook it for something then what it was...cuz why shoot it down? this created an ego battle of defending myself, because quite honestly i hate being accused especially when i'm in my purest moment of sharing openly from the heart.
so my question always was; can those scorpion dudes tell btw. an ego (ego as a negative, that needs to be taken down a notch maybe) and someone's joy and expression of simple sharing.
i can't explain this any better...
funny enough so many people think it's about them and 'their' ego...i guess it does end up being about their ego ;-)

Re: scorpios:what's the difference btw big ego and confidence?
Wed, October 24, 2007 - 10:11 AMStar fish,
I don't think they can. My scorpion sun boyfriend says that about me. He feels a personal attack when I share excitement in my knowledge. I have a pieces moon and asc aries so when I express myself I can be very enthusiastic and bubbly almost to a point that I make it a matter of fact. He thinks this is a bad quality of mine because when I try to defend my post. He says I'm threatening him that I'm absolutely right. Almost like an ego shove in his face. I defintely don't see it that way, I just express myself very straightforward to get the point across.
I guess he thinks I'm like a little kid saying "nana-nana-boo-boo, I know something you don't know" therefore I'm better than you- ego trip.
I see it as a sharing of information and give me a response to your knowledge of the subject. Very non-threatening. "ooohhh...look what I heard/found out....let me share and you can share your input."
And of course I get also on the defensive when I'm accused of such negative statements. Just like you said it's just "someone's joy and expression of simple sharing" -

Re: scorpios:what's the difference btw big ego and confidence?
Wed, October 24, 2007 - 2:45 PMI noticed that what you ladies seem to have in common here is Aries in your own charts and having Scorpio boyfriends.
I think it's related to Mars, and and the Scorpio/Aries relationship and their differing ways of handling and expressing Mars. I think Scorpio envies Aries outgoingness, but feels that due to reasons of secrecy and efficiency, that they must keep it all under wraps. They hate the fact that they have to adhere to that policy while Aries isn't so concerned about being covert, reserved or humble.

Re: scorpios:what's the difference btw big ego and confidence?
Wed, October 24, 2007 - 2:31 PMIn all honesty, I think what you are really seeing is jealousy and envy, Starfish...of someone else's ability to SHARE...since Scorpios are somewhat stunted in this area, you know? They are often known for having a silent streak which is difficult for them to breach. I think the are envious of those more "bubbly" and expressive souls.
For further clarification, I don't think they are jealous or envious of what you shared, I think they are jealous or envious of the fact that you CAN share when they would LIKE to...but their emotional defense mechanism of silence doesn't permit it.
And let me just say that this is a VERY educated guess.
And that's all I have to say on the subject.
I hope this new "knowledge" will enable you to have the relationship you want with such a man. -

Wed, October 24, 2007 - 4:11 PMLet's face it, Scorps could stand to be more confident about sharing, and Rams could stand to be more confident WITHOUT having to share every discovery, inspiration, accomplishment, idea and impression. Sometimes it's good to just BE without having to declare it. Truth be known, Scorps have a higher success-quotient than Aries because they are more focused and disciplined and don't scatter their energy or say the wrong things to the wrong people (in general). -

i've known some extremely unfocused scorpios who constantly bounce from one wild paranoia to anther...or one career to another, or one relationship....and so on.
i've also know some aries that are very driven and always get what they want, have successful careers, etc.
again, these are sweeping generalizations too.
i think a big part of sharing is what happens after the fact. if the person being shared with is intelligent, quick and able enough to take that information, that gift, and do something productive with it, rather then feeling intimidated by it.
from an aries pov, my xpression has been genuine, and altho not always liked or accepted, it has been understood as being genuine...if the person is not all wrapped up in their own ego, they can easily see this and not get too personal about what i put on the table.
fj, scorpios say plenty of the 'wrong' things, (whatever this wrong things means, i hink it's up to the interpretor too)...but like the stubborn water sign they are they might not notice it till years later...after they have molted...and then they regret it.
as an aries i notice it right away, but i like to speak my heart and mind right there in the moment...it's quite pure in that sense and no later regrets...and i hope that the listener is grown up enough not to judge me by it too much. -

I see B as a sex-symbol who's sexuality is very open and obvious.

not necessarily, in this case i wasn't referring to this, but rather my own experience with abundance of pisc-aries confidence/sharing, which has always brought me some kind of tension/trouble with scorpios..
narrowing this down it was about who and how differently different sign see ego and confidence.
obviously for a pisc-arian it's natural and bubbling over in raw excitement at times, flowing freely, afterall an aries influence has nothing to lose and doesn't question it's expression, this seems to be the opposite of the scorpio who seems mostly to enjoy holding cards close to their chest, due to fear, strategy, or humility...depends on the scorpion i guess.

Sat, October 20, 2007 - 12:14 PMwhoever said "the ego gets a bad rap in new age blah blah"
you know exactly what I meant by ego.
I know there are so many different shades of ego linguistically,
but here we are specifically talking about that annoying way arrogant girls think they're the best, better, and most important things on this little planet.
everyone identifies an ego differently.
some people even like it . . *rolls eyes*
and we all identify and measure another's egotistic mix with mechanisms we can barely dig out of our psyche and cook into a sentence.
so, what's the big difference?

Re: -_-
Sat, October 20, 2007 - 1:44 PMEgo can be thinking you're better than everyone else, but the ego can also be thinking you're worse than everyone else.
The defining quality of the ego is thinking that you are separate from the rest of the world, and being caught up in that separateness. The ego puts you at odds with the world, rather than realizing that the world outside and the world inside are reflections of one another.
I like to think of the ego as neutral - neither good nor bad. It's a natural part of our experience as humans. The ego is really spirit operating within an individual consciousness, like a ray of god acting in the world. But sometimes the ego forgets that it is just an extension of god.
In fact, it is the ego part of ourselves that thinks the ego is a bad thing!

Re: scorpios:what's the difference btw big ego and confidence?
Sat, October 20, 2007 - 2:43 PMI am thinking that the difference you imply between "big ego" -- acting as if one is tough and all that -- vs. confidence -- truly feeling able -- is also the big problem with religion vs. spirituality.
I was recently watching the "Lawrence of Arabia" documentary on PBS. It occurred to me that the "traditional" difference between male and female roles at that time was well expressed in Lawrence's rape confession in his writings. It interested me that those analyzing his life were skeptical about whether he really was raped, but his description of losing his personal bodily integrity by being entered by another man was telling. Women are expected to lose their personal integrity to men, often without their will being of any concern. Women's work traditionally is nurturing work, taking care of others, doing the often disgusting and demeaning chores necessary to the general well-being. To the gentlemen this would be scene as servant work, beneath the notice of important men. Manly work is war or building monuments to provide eternal glory.
This does not even address the further information presented in the documentary about the seeds of today's international conflicts based on egregious treatment of Arab allies by imperialistic Europe. Honor seriously subjugated to power seems to me to be more a position of "ego" than confidence. -

And yes there is a....something hard to explain that happends between Scorpio and Pisces. especially Fem Piscse and Male Scorpio.. I know of a few the other way too and those are a ..."walking out on a linb togeather" thing too...

Mon, October 22, 2007 - 8:15 PM"Scorpio's search out power or draw it to them.
Pisces lets it go..Odd mix really... "
Perhaps it is foolhardy of me to reveal this secret thought just now but...
Maybe it is just cuz I have a scorpio uranus midpoint blending most all of my chart that I say this...
Sometimes when the pisces "lets go" of their power...they do in a similar way to the way a computer virus "lets go" some of a part of itself to another computer ;-)
If you take that power...that pisces is downloaded into your system now :D
And at least I like to keep an out ready to go at absolutely any moment neccessary, expected or not 0.o
Taking power from pisces is at times like letting the government fund your program .... better not take too much or else you'll find out it isn't totally your program anymore if you know what I mean
That offer of power...is a bit like...
A fisherman offering you a free worm...
sorry to say it
I guess it is true that most of the time we just don't want to think about certain things...and we let others think they have power if it means they will relieve us from the drudgery
Sometimes there is more to that hook though...watch it scorpios and company! -

btw, i must make a small correction on the behalf of pisces, maybe not all pisces, but this one anyway, pisces does not give away it's power, for it's not the pisces' power (power as a noun ) to give away... nor is it anyone elses for that matter...power just is, and those that think they own it are delusional. they are holding sand, that spills out through their fingers as they try to squeeze...

Re: scorpios:what's the difference btw big ego and confidence?
Tue, October 23, 2007 - 6:25 AMI guess to some degree the whole idea of power confuses me just a little
I keep confusing it with responsibility
And I can't stop thinking of the common good and common goals
I don't see how it benefits me to swell up with this "power" if it means weakening the fabric around me thereby undermining my own self in truth
I do often step down and let others feel they have power over me without saying anything otherwise
But I usually have my reasons and it is usually because of the common good somehow and it usually suits me well for them to step up for w/e reason that I don't really have to tell them
As much as people like to think I am a rug allowing them to step on me...and I don't try to argue with them...that isn't really what is going on from my point of view.
I guess if it makes them happy to have their view of themselves as powerful over me...and they do what I need them to do...ok I am happy for them.
And if I don't like the situation/power set-up anymore....I have my way out ready to go -

and since we are on this topic, i was thinking...
"Scorpio's search out power or draw it to them.
Pisces lets it go..Odd mix really... "
odd at first glance that's for sure, but the more i think of it the exchange of power reminds me of breathing....
breath in....breath out..
as long as the scorpion is wiling and trusting to let go and exhale, it can be a very magical exchange, otherwise the scorpion will just get too bloated and explode! their head far too big from the uptake, leaving the fish drained.
it all makes perfect sense now! -

Dear Friends,
Sat Nam!
I am sending this out just as the Sun has entered Scorpio. We will attribute this to Divine Timing. Accepting Divine Timing is one of Scorpio's lesson! Read more below. :+)
OCTOBER 23 NOTE - As I reread the section on SuperMoons and prepare to send this newsletter, out of control fires are raging in the San Diego area. Already 5 times more people (250,000) have been evacuated than 4 years ago, when we had a similar disaster. (I should be fine, except for the terrible air quality, as I live on the Island of Coronado.)
Please pray for the winds to die down and for the fires to be contained and extinguished. Doing RA MA DA SA Healing Meditation would help. (See free on-line lessons. Also in Transitions to a Heart-Centered World) Read about SuperMoons below.
Here is the Scorpio NMB. It is divided into 3 sections.
PART I - CURRENT ASTROLOGICAL INFLUENCES
PART II - LESSONS OF THE SCORPIO ARCHETYPE
PART III - DEEPENING YOUR SPIRITUAL PRACTICE
The last section offers guidelines for deepening your practice of Kundalini yoga and meditation. Our Scorpio lesson is to transform our emotional energy so that we can access the power of our soul. The inner alchemy requires awakening to the light of consciousness by activating the Kundalini.
If you have practiced with the guidelines set out in the last NMB #139 on Libra, it will be easier to deal with your emotions from a your neutral mind. Please refer to #139, as this is part of your guide to move into an awakened consciousness. Even practicing 5 minutes a day moves you forward. Darkness can turn to Light, only if we do the necessary work to become conscious.
Blessings, Gururattana :+)

SUPER MOONS
SuperMoon is the term coined by astrologer Richard Nolle 30 years ago. The term refers to New or Full Moons that occur when the Moon is at or near its closest approach to the Earth. SuperMoons happen 4 or 5 times a year. *(1) The Moon's orbit around the Earth is elliptical, which means that its distance from the Earth varies. The Moon appears bigger in the night sky when it is closer to the Earth.
The current SuperMoons - all Full Moons - occur(red) on September 26 at 3 degrees Aries, October 26 at 2 degrees Taurus, and November 24 at 2 degrees Gemini. Wow. Three SuperMoons in a row! The Moon's close proximity to the Earth increases the intensity. I have heard others express and have felt myself the intensity of the Aries/Libra Full Moon. And there are two more!! The Taurus Full Moon is impacting us at this moment.
Solar and Lunar Eclipses also generate intense energy. They come in pairs and happen two times a year. There was a Lunar Eclipse/Full Moon in Pisces August 28th and a Solar Eclipse/New Moon in Virgo September 11th.
Both SuperMoons and Eclipses create energy for deep transformation and change. I assume you have noticed! A SuperMoon is "a strong signal of geophysical disturbances - tidal surges in Earth's atmosphere, oceans, and crust that correspond to sever storms, unusually high tides, and moderate to sever seismic activity, including volcanic eruptions and Richter Magnitude 5+ earthquakes. " *(2) How about raging fires?! Five days before, the SuperMoon raging fires were already out of control in California.
If Mother Earth is quaking, volcanoes are erupting, tides are surging, fires are raging and weather patterns are severe, we can be sure that humans are also dramatically impacted. Our discussion of Scorpio will help us understand how we can deal with the intense impact of these powerful tidal waves of change.
SCORPIO AND THE ALCHEMY OF TRANSFORMATION
Both the Taurus Full Moon and the Scorpio New Moon support Scorpio's mission to provoke dramatic and deep inner transformation. Scorpio is one of the principle archetypes of spiritual alchemy. The evolutionary goal of spiritual alchemy is to transmute our darkness into Light, to move from an unconscious state to a conscious state.
Darkness or black refers to our ignorance of non-physical reality and our bondage and attachment to material reality (our body, things, and limited ego.) Gold represents an enlightened state where we have attained a purified state of consciousness and are no longer identified with our limited human ego or confined to a purely physical perspective of reality. We have awakened to the existence of our soul and the eternal presence of the Divine and live in this consciousness.
Scorpio and its ruler Pluto provoke profound revelations and cause fundamental reorientation in our lives. All of which seems like a good thing once we have found ourselves in the Light at the end of the tunnel. But we have to go through the tunnel to get to the Light. This is the challenging and sometimes scary part of our Scorpio journey.
TAURUS FULL MOON OCTOBER 25-26
Full Moons expose the shadow side of each sign. Immature Taurus falls into the traps of materialism, possessiveness, complacency, low self-esteem and depression. Scorpio can get sidetracked by desire for wealth, power, intrigue and sex. Scorpio can also get lost in the overpowering emotions of depression, vengeance and rage.
The Scorpionic intensity is jacked up several notches at this Taurus Full Moon because Pluto (ruler of Scorpio) is in exact alignment with the Galactic Center at 26 degrees Sagittarius on October 28th. This is the third and final alignment. The first two were December 28, 2006 and July 17, 2007.
The Galactic Center is the massive black hole at the heart of the Milky Way Galaxy. It is four million times bigger than the Sun. It "not only absorbs but also transmits enormous amount of electromagnetic energy." *(3) The alignment of Pluto with the Galactic Center acts like a catalyst for releasing blocks and for creating openings for evolutionary change.
Transformation happens when space opens up and energy moves. Space and movement require releasing resistances in the form of beliefs, behaviors, mindsets and all kinds of attachments. This Full Moon invites us to examine where we want to expand and to identify the next step on our soul's journey. It is helping us let go of the old so we can evolve and we can do what we came here to do.
SCORPIO NEW MOON - NOVEMBER 9
The Taurus Full Moon helps us look at our options. At the Scorpio New Moon we have to make choices. We need to be well aware that we have to live with the consequences of our choices. Will we choose to evolve to the next level or will we choose to dig in our heels and stay glued to our old ways? Scorpio helps us identify how we attach ourselves to old identities, beliefs and dramas. Most of us profess to want to change. At least we talk a lot about what we want. Scorpio puts the two pieces of the puzzle together. If we want something that remains beyond our reach, we are going to have change our inner programming to get it. Scorpio and Pluto expose that inner programming.
If we want to venture beyond familiar territory, we have to expand in some way and maybe even radically shift our paradigm. We have to step out of our comfort zone in order to move into unknown territory. We have to get rid of what no longer fits. We have to be willing to live on the evolutionary edge. To do so we have to examine our relationship with ourselves, our profession, others and the world. Scorpio and Pluto remind us that change is inevitable, that what may seem like a death is a rebirth.
Fear of the unknown and holding on to what do longer works creates suffering. The descent that exposes our darkness may be necessary, but it is not the end result. Our goal is greater awareness and self-empowerment. Emotional confrontations with our dark side help us shift our perception, remember our divinity and orient ourselves toward the Light. Fear is not a black hole. It is a doorway to another state of consciousness. The trick is we have to go through it to get to the other side!
MARS AND MERCURY RETROGRADE AND DIRECT
Mars activity is impacting us at this time. On the New Moon, Mars in Cancer trines the Sun and Moon in Scorpio and Uranus in Pisces. Trines are flowing, supportive energy. The water signs can make us feel more loving and compassionate, AND they can bring up intense emotions.
Six days after the New Moon on November 15, MARS goes RETROGRADE until January 30th. Mars will move back through Cancer until December 30th when it returns to Gemini. The outer planets retrograde each year. Mercury retrogrades 3 times a year. Mars goes retrograde every 26 months. Mars in Cancer brings our attention to our emotional well-being. Are we beating ourselves up or supporting ourselves? This is a time to assess our relationship with our feelings, our past, our inner state of affairs, our home, our environment and Mother Earth. Check several degrees around 12 degrees Cancer to see what Mars retrograde is activating in your chart.
MERCURY went retrograde October 11 in Scorpio, returns to Libra October 23 and goes DIRECT NOVEMBER 1. After returning direct, Mercury will again be in Scorpio from November 11 through the 29th. Mercury's extended time in Scorpio obliges us to get in touch with unconscious motivations that impact our actions and our reality. In Libra we identify misunderstandings and resentments. The best way to get unstuck and move forward is to treat ourselves kindly and lovingly release blame, guilt and regrets.
WHERE IS MY SCORPIO?
Like all the signs, not everyone has planets in Scorpio. But the Scorpio archetype, the soul desire to experience and release our darkness and to evolve toward the Light is a primal drive our every soul. There are several ways to identify where and how the Scorpio impulse plays out in our lives.
(1) The eighth house is the territory associated with Scorpio. Any planets in our 8th house are driven by Scorpio energy. The sign on the cusp of the 8th house indicates HOW we interact with our deepest emotions and instinctual drives.
(2) Locating the house or houses that contain planets in Scorpio or have Scorpio on the cusp helps us identify the arenas in life where we confront our Scorpio issues and display our Scorpio traits.
(3) Scorpio is ruled by Pluto and Mars. The sign and house placement of our natal Pluto gives us essential information about where our Scorpio issues are most likely to surface. We can also observe Mars, especially if our natal Mars is retrograde, to identify Scorpio issues. But Mars also rules Aries, so the sign and aspects to Mars will influence whether it acts more like Aries or Scorpio.
(4) It is important to keep in mind that in addition to Sun in Scorpio, those with Scorpio rising (Scorpio on the cusp of the first house,) a Scorpio moon, several planets in Scorpio or several planets in the eighth house will strongly identify with the Scorpio path and challenges.
* See NMBeing #1254 Scorpio Path for the chart of Scorpio's evolutionary journey.
PART II - LESSONS OF THE SCORPIO ARCHETYPE
SCORPIO TRAITS AND THEMES
As the Earth passes into fall and then winter, we make our descent into Pluto's underworld represented by the Scorpio archetype and the eighth house or death, transformation and rebirth.
When we enter Scorpio territory, we leave behind Libra's quiet, calm equanimity and serenity. Scorpio (the second water sign) hangs out in the turbulent murky waters of the emotions and the unconscious.
Scorpio is secretive, withdrawn and inward, and also a brave soul. Scorpio is vulnerable to doubts, depressive moods and obsessive-compulsiv e behaviors. At the low end, Scorpio is cynical, negative, devious, suspicious, deceitful, controlling and manipulative. At the high end, Scorpio is about psychological transformation, resurrection, enlightenment and immortality.
Scorpios have depth, an uncanny instinctual awareness and psychic abilities. They can attune to the unconscious and intuitively pick up on things without knowing where the information came from.
Scorpio takes life seriously. Nothing is frivolous. At some level, Scorpio knows that there is much accumulated karma to be resolved this life time and is committed to the clean up task.*(4) Scorpio knows that dedication and commitment are required to transform habits and to release imprints that have been with us for lifetimes.
INTERNAL TRANSFORMATION
When we are deep into the Scorpio leg of our journey, we are subjected to disruptive transitions and profound transformation. Scorpio territory is not a comfort zone. But if we are willing to be authentic, it is a power zone. In this arena we learn how to access and use our soul power that is embodied in our emotions. The transformative alchemy happens deep within us. It often transpires in the context of intimate relationships.
In our Scorpio phase of development, our negative emotions are exposed. We are obliged to learn how to be in touch with the energy of fear, anger, rage, aggression and sadness. Our lesson is to embrace these primal emotional energies and to transmute them to their higher expressions. We are drawn to spiritual practices that involve Tantra or sacred sexuality and the activation of the Kundalini.
SCORPIO'S HIDDEN TERRITORY
Scorpio is a mysterious and individualistic sign. Scorpio symbolizes a hiding place, a cavity, or a hole where something precious is hidden. It represents a deep opening to the power center of the Earth and an access route to the psyche of the soul. Anatomically Scorpio is associated with the genitals and the anus. When properly activated and managed, the Scorpio archetype leads to the unfoldment of charismatic, mystical and psychic powers. Misuse of these powers, i.e. black magic, emotional and sexual abuse, and illegal activities can get us into deep trouble.
The Scorpio impulse causes us to experience both inner and outer conflict, chaos and upheaval. This is not because it is inherently negative energy. It is because this energy churns within us, creating turmoil and upset until it is activated and consciously available to use for the evolutionary unfoldment of ourselves and others. When this power is denied or suppressed, it internalizes and externalizes in disruptive and destructive ways. It can manifest as vindictiveness, revengefulness and selfishness.
Scorpio is motivated by its deep internal struggle to befriend and to creatively use this powerful energy of the soul. The strength of this energy gives us determination, tenacity and imponderable depth. These attributes reflect the fact that Scorpio is a fixed sign. Despite that fact that it is the main archetype of death and rebirth, it holds on and resists change. But its fixity also helps it consolidate, focus and fight until the battle is won.
THE KUNDALINI - BECOMING CONSCIOUS
Scorpio is ruled by both Pluto and Mars. (Mars also rules Aries.) When Mars is expressed through Scorpio, we devote our lives to exploring the hidden aspects of life and the inner depths of our soul. We search for the Truth. We investigate the mysteries of life. We seek to uncover the hidden laws of nature. The Scorpio archetype is about developing concealed power and accessing our divine potential. The Kundalini must be activated to bring about this profound transformation in consciousness.
Scorpio/Mars is related to sexual energy, as well as the Kundalini. The very nature of Kundalini energy is hidden from normal asleep consciousness. The activation of the Kundalini awakens us to soul consciousness. The awakening of the Kundalini can be cultivated, but it cannot be controlled. There is an anatomical explanation, but the actual arousal is not calculable or predictable.
Kundalini energy is related to sexual energy and transforms sexual energy. Ordinarily our sexual energy flows downward. To activate our Kundalini and awaken our consciousness, our sexual energy must be reoriented upward. After the ascent, this Light energy must descend and be integrated into our emotional and physical bodies. Our goal is not to understand the Kundalini, but to experience its liberating affects and to integrate them into an embodied awakened state. Then we can operate from an elevated state and excel in constructive and creative endeavors.
THE MYSTERIOUS EIGHTH HOUSE
Scorpio is related to the eighth house. The eighth house is secret territory - the place where the hidden aspects of our life hang out and the storehouse of latent creative energy. In the mysterious depths of Scorpio and the eighth house we find information and experiences that are difficult to understand and impossible to analyze. We become very sensitive to emotional impulses and to the currents of our soul essence. These energies are intense, profound and honest. If we are brave enough to look, our mental conflicts and emotional programming are exposed. If we dig deep enough and shine enough light, we also find hidden wealth, esoteric knowledge and the primal qualities of our soul.
The Scorpio seeker is deeply motivated to pursue the path of profound spiritual evolution. We are led to explore mystical paths and to pioneer in areas of knowledge that open up unexpected and meaningful opportunities in life. Our spiritual journey, which is arduous and disciplined, is the focal point in our lives. Our committed practice unveils the deeper meanings of life, transforms karma into dharma and delivers us to our destiny.
SCORPIO'S ARDUOUS PATH OF PURIFICATION
Scorpio represents our active quest to explore the inner depths of our being in order to access our latent potentials. In Scorpio, our inner emotional turmoil is too much to ignore. Nothing external can pacify the inner churning or satisfy our longing. The outcome of the internal war that ensues is uncertain. We can find poisonous venom and use it to destroy ourselves and others. And we can find divine nectar and use it to liberate ourselves and inspire others.
Scorpio's quest is to find a precious hidden jewel. Scorpio's story is about the trials that we must go through to uncover it. Our struggles focus on releasing ourselves from unconscious emotional programming, accumulated from this and previous lifetimes. The Scorpio impulse embodies the restless urge to traverse the seven chakras up from the base of the spine to the crown where individual consciousness is merged with universal consciousness, where our Self merges with the One.
The Scorpio path is not easy. Spiritual discipline is required to undergo the purification necessary to open the way to liberation. This is a difficult path where we encounter frustrations, disappointments and suffering. The urge for spiritual freedom drives Scorpio to do what it takes to cleanse and spiritualize its mental, emotional and physical bodies. Scorpio knows that it is under intense pressure that we crystallize our being into an awakened state.
Scorpio delivers us to the realm of the occult. The Scorpio influence reveals the mystical power that is concealed within our physical vehicle. The Scorpio path is about unveiling our hidden subjective reality or the vital energy of our emotions and our soul. The end goal of the churning of the cosmic ocean within us is to release the divine nectar of immortality. Once this nectar flows, our consciousness awakens. The once hidden truth of cosmic unity is revealed to us. We are no longer possessed by ignorance. The Light of our Soul guides our way home.
LIBERATING OUR SOUL POTENTIAL
Scorpio represents the movement toward and liberation of the soul power concealed within us. Our emotional, mental and material attachments must give way to find soul consciousness. Our limited ego-self must die, so that our cosmic Self may be born.
Scorpio reveals our divine potential and our capacity to expand beyond our limited perceptions of who we are conditioned to believe we are. When we realize that we are more than our appearance, thoughts and personality, we desire to find our essential nature and to experience the essence of our soul. As our understanding of and reaction to physical reality shifts, we begin to recognize the latent possibilities of our soul. We desire to experience more profound aspects of ourselves and to develop our hidden powers.
The reorientation of our life toward spiritual goals brings with it many human challenges. As the nature of our quest shifts, our life intensifies. Necessary readjustments disturb the equilibrium in relationships, career, health and other life situations. Our new spiritual direction requires new alignments. Emotional conflicts arise. Psychological problems are exposed. Physical circumstances and relationships change. Conscious awakening can be scary, disturbing, revealing and profound.
INNER ALCHEMY
For Scorpio, the emotional body is our alchemical laboratory. The air signs and Virgo fight primarily mental battles. Scorpio's struggles play out in the solar plexus and the belly - in the passionate emotions, in the depths of the instincts, in our sensual desires and sexual drives.
Both Pluto and Mars influence Scorpio. Pluto is the lord of the underworld and rules the unconscious, which is the home of our deep emotional programming and attachments, obsessive-compulsiv e tendencies and our instinctual drives. We bring many of these from our past lives and re-live them until we are able to release them by bringing them into consciousness.
Mars energy motivates us to take positive action. Aries Mars is outspoken, direct and aggressive. Mars associated with Scorpio is more akin to retrograde Mars. Scorpio Mars is our inner warrior who takes a stand against negative patterns, ideas and moods. Scorpio Mars is more subtle and inward. Its fighting spirit is devoted to the daunting task of empowering the Self by liberating us from limited ego perceptions of self, selfish and destructive motives and debilitating imprints.
Our evolutionary transformation requires deep psychological growth and personality re-formation that reflects our soulful Self. The inner alchemy necessary to achieve this level of transformation requires a focused will that is capable of shifting our focus from darkness to Light. Scorpio is brave enough to undertake this task.
HOW WE USE EMOTIONAL ENERGY
Immature Scorpio in controlled by its negative emotions. It can get very depressed and despondent. And it can use its emotional energy to focus on betrayal, revenge, and getting even. It is obsessed, inflexible, and narrow minded. Scorpio and Pluto taunt us until we become conscious of the karmic futility of repeating the same patterns and fighting the same battles with the same people for yet another lifetime. Letting go of our self-destructive habits is not easy, but it must be done to achieve the freedom that our soul desires and deserves!
Our primary Scorpio LESSON is about developing a relationship with our emotional body. How we deal with unconscious emotional energies plays a pivotal role in whether we regress or progress this lifetime. To evolve we must deal with our own karma and shadow and not use our emotional energy to fight vindictive or 'righteous' outer battles. We have to meet the real enemy, which we find within ourselves. Lovingly embraced, our emotions help us discover our soul.
SCORPIO/PLUTO FATE
Where Pluto and Scorpio reside in our natal chart, we are drawn to our inescapable fate. Our Scorpio demons include the hounding fixations of what we think we must have and the frustrated desires that keep us endlessly tormented. Our attempts to deny or kill these demons just causes them to multiply. The only solution is to patiently and lovingly bring them into the light of consciousness.
But we have to do more than identify our demons. We have to stop feeding them. We have to quit dwelling on our obsessions and brooding over our wounds. We have to replace them with something else that fills our needs in a more positive way. Identifying and satisfying our deepest soul needs is an essential Scorpio lesson. Until our soul needs are fulfilled, the nagging compulsions and unsettling feelings are not going to go away. The serious, honest Scorpio archetype makes sure we LEARN to distinguish between basic soulful needs and immature neediness.
SCORPIO/PLUTO THEMES MUST BE MADE CONSCIOUS
Our inner Scorpio/Pluto voices determine our happiness and "have the power to make us miserable. Even if we succeed in the other eleven Houses of the chart, but we fail in Pluto's House spiritually, psychologically or financially, the unconscious keeps reminding us" of our failures. *(5) Pluto in the seventh house will remind us relationship issues. Pluto in the tenth will hound us about our career. Pluto in the first house aims its criticism at self concept. Pluto in the second house wants to be financially free.
But don't worry, wherever Pluto resides and wherever Scorpio rules, our inner voices will surface to consciousness. After we have made ourselves miserable enough, we will listen below the screaming voice to uncover the real message of our soul. Instead of blaming fate, others or God, we will empower this voice to serve, rather than sabotage us.
LESSONS OF PATIENCE, TRUST AND ACCEPTING DIVINE TIMING
Our heroic ego desires to be free and to achieve its destiny goals set out in our Mars, Pluto and Scorpio houses. In the arenas where Pluto and Scorpio reside, we are first required to face and liberate our deep emotions (obviously a progressive, long term, and never ending project!) As we do so, our magnetic ability to attract increases, and we are able to better serve others in these areas of life.
For Scorpio, "Talking doesn't cook the rice." (Tibetan saying) *(6) For Scorpio, talking about problems often feeds its emotional fires. Scorpio knows that we communicate and develop a relationship with our emotions through non-verbal feeling, not through mental dialogue or analysis. Emotions must be felt in our body, especially in the solar plexus and belly. Scorpio also knows that breakthroughs in consciousness are nothing that anyone else can do for us. We do our own inner alchemical work at our on speed and in our own way. Scorpio may seem to hold things inside, but this is part of its awakening process. Scorpio's secretiveness comes from being protective of its deep emotions and from honoring the personal nature of its psychological release work.
When Pluto and Scorpio are involved, our evolutionary unfoldment is slow going. Our Scorpio journey obliges us to deal with our deep emotions, which is never a quick and easy endeavor. We are released from our inner struggles by gradually LETTING GO of our own pain and resistances. Letting go is not necessarily a consciously willed process, although we must usually become conscious of what we are holding on to. Emotional empowerment involves getting in touch with, learning to work with, and releasing primal emotional energy.
During this intense inner process, we have to learn to BE PATIENT, to wait for and to TRUST DIVINE TIMING. When we have adequately prepared ourselves to use our soul energy productively, the Divine schedule allows a release. We experience the joy of profound transformation and are unleashed to manifest the next stage of our destiny. Despite our sincere inner work, when these profound inner shifts happen, it feels like Divine Grace.
PART III - DEEPENING YOUR SPIRITUAL PRACTICE
The practice of Kundalini yoga can facilitate our Scorpio journey by (1) helping us befriend and integrate emotional energies into our body, (2) transmuting lower expressions of emotional energies into their higher expressions, and (3) awakening our consciousness by activating our Kundalini. The inner alchemical journey of awakening our soul is a very personal journey. It is most important to pay attention to your own energies in your body. Below are some ways to deepen your spiritual practice.
[1] THE NEUTRAL MIND
It is fascinating how the zodiac archetypes lead us progressively through the journey of inner transformation. In the last NMN #139 on Libra I set out guidelines for accessing the dimension of peace and love. I include them again below because working with your energy in this way is essential for feeling safe enough to enter your emotional depths. *(7)
Please note that this interpretation of the Libra process is from the upper chakras down.
(1) Tune into the neutral channel inside your head and contemplate its attributes - peace, stability, neutral, non-judgmental, no stories.
(2) As your desire to immerse yourself in this peace deepens, let your body feel the attributes and get involved in this experience.
(3) Engage all your senses to infuse yourself with this peace.
(4) Feel all your sensations inside your skin to contain this love.
(5) Everyday connect with and maintain the stable, peaceful space within.
(6) Lovingly hold yourself in the space, as you release resistance.
(7) One day we discover that this space is everywhere. IT is Infinite. It is higher love.
When we have our neutral mind in place, it is easier to deal with our intense emotions, which will of course not feel comfortable. But being in our neutral channel and allowing ourselves to experience uncomfortable feelings without judging them is a powerful way to calm and align this volatile energy.
[2] THE FIRST THREE CHAKRAS
Emotions are energy that moves. When our emotional energy is stuck or uncomfortably agitated, we need to rhythmically move our body. Moving the energy in the first three chakras is critical to dealing with emotional energy. A basic set that balances our emotions is Nabhi Kriya. The exercise where you are lying on the back and moving the arms out to the sides and the legs out and up to 60 degrees is especially potent and can be done everyday to help keep emotionally in shape. *(8) Spinal rotations are also a simple and easy why to work with emotional energy and reestablish your own rhythm. Walking and running with coordinated breath can work wonders. If you haven't already, try Breath Walk. *(9)
[3] THE LOCKS AND SPINAL ALIGNMENT
Awakening our Kundalini is required to profoundly shift our consciousness. We normally think this as a long term goal, which it is. But we can also shift our consciousness in the moment by applying the locks and moving our energy from the navel and base of the spine upward to the third eye and crown chakra.
At any time, we can practice the following sequence. (1) Slightly pull in the navel, (2) Pull up on the muscles at the base of the spine and in the perineum, and (3) Adjust your neck so that your spine is pulled up and heart is open. Pull and release to generate feelings of energy waves in your spine. Do while slowly breathing. There are many variations using the breath. Experiment and see what gets your energy flowing. Do this periodically during the day, while driving, waiting in line, standing or sitting at your desk. Experience how you can change your moods and energy level this way. *(10)
[4] SAT KRIYA
Sat Kriya is of course the classic Kundalini yoga exercise to redirect sexual energy up the spine and activate the Kundalini. Even 3-5 minutes a day can change your life. *(11)

i'm trying to wrap my mind around this one...had to reread it a few times...really puts things in perspective doesn't it? :-)
4 million times!!! holy @#%^%$!

Re: scorpios:what's the difference btw big ego and confidence?
Thu, October 25, 2007 - 5:30 PMMind if I raise that to the power of OBLIVION?
In the past week I have found myself going through an incredible amount of pressure for transformation regarding old emotional issues. I can't believe what seems to be happening. I have my Moon in Scorpio, and my Jupiter is conjunct the Galactic Center in my first house. Now with Pluto conjuncting it, I realize what must be happening. I think maybe the Galactic Center acts like an amplifier or booster for a planet, which would mean that my outlook on life is being utterly remade. Maybe my Jupiter is making Pluto/Galactic Center especially difficult to ignore and hide, or is just throwing a philosophical twist on it all...or maybe it is ensuring that this eventually a very positive experience for me.
I feel like Dave Bowman, in 2010, the sequel to 2001: A Space Odyssey, after being absorbed by the giant black monolith into another plane of existence.
*H.A.L.: "Dave, what is happening on the surface of Jupiter?"
*Dave (smiles a spooky smile): "Something WONDERFUL." -

I've been looking at my eighth house and my moon in Scorpio to help explain it...and nothing clicked.
But the Galactic Center/Pluto transit explains everything.

This is from A book lying around called….
The 8th House By Marc Robertson
Dying a little - The Approach To Renewal
Another term we astrologers handily hang on the eight house is the glib word, "renewal". "You can be reborn" in this field of your activities. "You can become a new person" here. "You can be regenerated" in this sphere of your life. And what is meant?
Shouldn't astrologers be forced to explain that they are not talking about a public baptism in some lake district in the South while a thousand chanters line the banks, crying, "Amen?"
Couldn't we explain very simply that everybody is going to experience DEATH IN LIFE whether he wishes or not? Shouldn't we have to add that this is nothing to fear, that it is no holy mystery anymore, that it is, in reality, a simple part of life’s that one does not have to sign his name on a dotted line-- so there's a guarantee he can at least enter the temple if "heaven" fails--to experience?
Renewal is a very simple term. It means to become new again, to become fresh again, to start over. And that's the only implication the eight house holds in HUMAN terms. One doesn't have to sprout wings, he doesn't have to have a transfiguration like a saint; he simply has to BECOME ANEW WHAT HE WAS, SIMPLY, BEFORE HE GOT CAUGHT UP IN A RIGID, TURID, COMPLEX ROUTINE.
The death that most people will experience in the eighth house is the death of an ego--or the death of a face, an act, a situation, or a personality, that has become boring and jaded because it REFUSES to start over by TRYING OUT SOMETHING IT HASN'T ALREADY EXPERIENCED. And this is actually all that the soul asks in the eight house, though when it positions planets there it asks a little more. It asks for the experience to be more than an activity. When it places a planet there it asks for the experience to be something THAT WILL SHAKE YOU, OR REMAKE YOU, INSIDE. But in terms of eight house itself, it simply asks you to try out new experiences with which you are not familiar, And the sign it places upon that house tells you how to approach these experiences and even what they may look like.
Many of us do not realize that every year (when the Sun, Mercury, and Venus pass through the eight house) we experience a minor death. In the case of that Sun, a yearly direction we had dies to give way to another; in the case of Mercury, a set if ideas we had for a year dies to give way to new ones; and in the case of Venus, a set of temporary values we held dies and to give way for another.
The transits of the other planets bring heavier deaths at longer intervals: Mars, every 2 years, kills off a line of activity; Jupiter, every twelve, buries a success to make way for another; Saturn, every 30 years destroys identity, to make way for another. And Uranus, once in a lifetime for a period of 7 years, tries to electrocute whatever Saturn established, so an inner reality can be born.
YES, THERE'S A KILLING FACTOR
As these same planets move through every other house of the horoscope, they may also precipitate little deaths but they are not so noticeable there. There is not so much power in them elsewhere. But there is great power in them here because WE ARE FORCED OUT OF WHAT WE HAVE BECOME ACCUSTOMED TO AND MUST START OVER, for this is the house of "Certain" death. Our western society has never learned has never learned to see death as a simple phase of transition from one state to another, but the SOUL KNOWS IT and this is the house from which THE SOUL OPERATES TO UNDERMINE THE BODY. So it is here that we will recognize it, ironically enough, even if it is less painful than in other houses because when it is recognized death its not painful. It is even joyful.
When we think of renewal we should probably consider the eight house in that matter. It may look painful, it may be fearful, it may make us tremble--well, all to the good; the more we tremble the more alive we are and the more rapidly we will move into the new state. The fears ahead of the experience actually often make us more alive to it than we would have allowed or wished for.
Even for those who have no planets in the eighth house, there are deaths occurring there that have to do with the soul, or with reincarnation. These deaths are usually of attitudes--and generally fearful or negative ones--we've allowed to come into our lives because unconsciously, to avert something new, we could revert to what was familiar from the past. And yes, we are renewing our contacts with these old attitudes and shaking them off, as must be done in this life, when transits occur in our eight house. If no other thing happened to us--no sex, no stock sales, no marital money management problems, no insurance or tax or investment problems came up -- there would be an attitude happening. A negative attitude that needs to be shed so a new idea or approach can replace it. IF life doesn't offer it, the soul, or unconscious as we call it psychologically, would throw it up to us.
And we can see the general nature of it, and what must be done about it, by looking to the sign on the eight house. In the negative traits of that sign are the tendencies towards the attitude that must be shaken. IN the positive potential of that sign are the possibilities of the new start, the renewal of activity, the way to be born again into a different perspective of what each of us can be if we LIVE rather than follow habits that seem safe. Safety likes in the past; the soul will give us contact with it in our insecurity in this time and place. But it will also shake us free from it just when we least expect it so that negative safety can be freed from the soul's heavy bag of tired old items. Safety is death. Life is the soul changing.

Re: scorpios:what's the difference btw big ego and confidence?
Fri, October 26, 2007 - 2:50 PMI have been doing alot of thinking about this post lately.
This reminds me of me and my girlfriend so much, I was floored when I first read it.
Yeah, I am totally guilty of the behavior described above.
And my girlfriend is an Aries to boot, and most of the ladies agreeing on this subject have Aries Rising or Aries SOMETHING.
I think the most important things to remember here are that Aries and Scorpio constitute a quincunx relationship, and both are ruled by Mars.
Quincunx aspects usually indicate energies that are highly aware of each other, but this awareness runs out after a certian point and paranoia and imagination take over. Both signs can see a certain something about the other, some truth, but they can't quite put their finger on it in a realistic way that solves the equation and allows them to harmonize. The key is the "can't quite put their finger on it" thing. It's like a misplaced itch. Someone shooting at someone else but only hitting their shoulder, and likewise from the other person.
So, some Aries ladies are worried that their Scorpio boyfriends think they are conceited because they express excitement and inspiration so readily. I believe that some Scorpio's are simply envious of Aries ability to bouyantly revel in their own accomplishments and inspirations. Scorpio tends to be a little negative, repressed, controlled and conservative. I think most Scorpios would LIKE to express more, but they have an inner code ofethics which says they can't , or shouldn't. Therefore, they envy people who blurt it out whenever they want to. I think it is inaccurate to simply say that Scorpio is envious, and thinks Aries is egotistical. This could be half true, just as I think that Aries being egotistical could be half-true. I think that the need to express and affirm one's (supposed) knowledge and experience is also a weakness. I think that Aries, while perhaps not blatantly egotistical...is somewhat of an opportunist when it comes to expressing just who and what they THINK they are. And the are ESPECIALLY off key when they try guess what other people are really feeling. Aries people like my both my uncles, girlfriend, former girlfriend, former male friend (keyword: FORMER who always insist that I mist be upset because I am intimidated by something they said. Nothing will convince them that there is another reason sometimes...and that reason is that they are SO convinced of themselves sometimes, there is almost no point in continuing...because this person simply does not know me and is not reserved and deep enough to consider another angle.
Two people can be right atthe same time, especially with quincunxs.
