Is there a way to find out if a person has excellent skills or potential success in creating/running a business...?

By natal/transit charts?

There are a lot of factors that would be attributed to running a business. Good business skills would be important, obviously, and the earth signs are especially connected with that area (Capricorn, Virgo and Pisces). Certain aspects are helpful, such as Mars trine Saturn. If the person has a strong 10th house, they are also more likely to want to work for themselves, and so would be more motivated to do so. I would say that certain signs, such as the mutable ones, like Gemini and Pisces, have more difficulty in running a business unless other factors over ride this, because they have more trouble sticking to things that they start. They are better at initiating things (idea people) vs. finishing through on them. Some air planets and strong Mercury placements would also be helpful in communicating, networking and researching for their potential business. Even if a person is introverted, they need to be able to talk to people on a basic level.

It also depends on what sort of business you're talking about. If it is a creative type of business, you'd expect to see more creative indicators in the person's chart (such as signs of Venus and Jupiter; Moon, Venus, Neptune connections, and strong placements in the 5th and 11th).

Someone who is creative, good at communicating, has business skills, and likes being the boss can all be found in a chart.

But, that being said, if you begin a business at the wrong time, even if you would be good at running a business, this could stop you from succeeding. That is why you should check transits, progressions, and maybe even do an election chart for the time that you'd start the business.

I have only been employed 6 months in my entire career. The rest of the time I have been self-employed and that's almost 10 years and counting. I got Uranus, Mars and Venus in Scorpio in the 10th house with Uranus on top of my MC by degree. This stellium also sextiles my moon in Capricorn which is in triplicity of my Saturn in Virgo. My moon trines Saturn in Virgo by exact degree.

Overall lots of fixed and cardinal energy in my chart.

I'm not sure if it means that I'm really good at what I do, but I can't imagine myself doing anything else.

Ladysaber, I think your chart is a great example for why whole sign house system works just as well, if not better, than the Placidus house system. Since your AC is in Aqu, all your Scorpio planets would fall in your 10th house, but your Neptune would fall in the 11th. I think that makes more sense, since Neptune doesn't really belong in the 10th house for people who manage to make it as business owners...

anyway, for the general topic of this thread,

I have to say that in order to determine whether a person is likely to be successful in ANYTHING, you have to look at what motivates them, first of all.

So, in terms of what is most likely to get someone off their asses and looking to start their own business is a strong Venus, first of all, because that makes them very sensitive to material possessions in life, and greatly loving of comfort.

Of course, how they may choose to get money depends on the rest of the chart...I would say any sign is perfectly capable of producing successful business people...Aries would do great opening a spa, a tennis court, or whatever. Taurus could do great in cosmetics, textile industry, food industry, horticulture etc. Gemini would do well in marketing, PR, or just plain teaching-languages or whatever, Cancer would do great in interior decoration, architecture, house cleaning, catering and so on, Leo would do great opening a hair saloon, managing an art gallery or a theater, Virgo would do well in pharmaceutics, health food, and anything related to medicine, Libra would do great in therapy, fashion design, and so on..Scorpio would produce good undertakers..lol, owners of funeral homes, any activity involved in recycling, Sag would do well in travel industry-hotel managers, or transport companies, Cap could do great in finances, banking, accountancy, just about anything direcly linked to the money machine, Aquarius would do well in anything involving IT, Pisces would do well in any art-related endeavor, from make-up to interior design, or anything faith-related, like astrology..hehe.

Of course, if we're talking about most likely to be life-long artists in business, the strongest aspect would be the Venus-Saturn conjunction. Bill Gates, Donald Trump and many other successful businessmen have that natal aspect.

I would expect to see fire rather than earth in a strongly entrepreneurial type. After all, to do this and to be a total self-starter therr wouldhave to be huge amounts of self-belief, an abilitys to 'think outsede the box and take risks, maybe a desire to gamble, to recognse the new potential in an idea.

Strong Mars maybe, helpful aspects from Jupiter.

----- Natal chart will indicate potential or direction; the transits might trigger the development, or the action... So, which transits help the person discover hir business acumen, or otherwise indicate a good time to start a business?

This doesn't exactly work like a checklist, does it? It wouldn't be enough to see if I have any of those placements/aspects that you have enumerated?

Earth signs: Venus in Virgo trine Moon in Capricorn
Mars is weakened, in Cancer opposite Capricorn Moon - no aspects from Saturn =(
10th House: Leo Mercury, the only fixed sign planet... I'm more Cardinal (self-starter) and Mutable (oops!), no wonder I'm one of those who "can't finish what they've started." But I'm learning to because I need to - How do Fixed Sign people view the world, exactly, so that they can *finish* or stabilize projects? (That's another thread I guess?)

LadySaber: "Overall lots of fixed and cardinal energy in my chart. I'm not sure if it means that I'm really good at what I do, but I can't imagine myself doing anything else."

----- That sounds like something I wanna do. Be my own boss. I wish I had more fixed energy than mutable energy though.

Mantis: "So, in terms of what is most likely to get someone off their asses and looking to start their own business is a strong Venus, first of all, because that makes them very sensitive to material possessions in life, and greatly loving of comfort."

----- I might add Moon (needs) placements and aspects as well. The conditions of the home base, or the person's sense of material security are important motivating factors too.

Mantis: "Of course, if we're talking about most likely to be life-long artists in business, the strongest aspect would be the Venus-Saturn conjunction. Bill Gates, Donald Trump and many other successful businessmen have that natal aspect."

    -----

And the profession by signs doesn't ring a bell with me. I'm on the Cancer/Leo cusp, but I don't think the business suggestions for Cancer and Leo sound interesting... The suggestions for Virgo, however, sound good, but I'd need to develop some more experience and expertise with them.

My own version of business suggestions by sign:

ARIES - shooting ranges, amusement park rides, those fake-war game establishment (I don't know what they're called)... sports training... Maybe I'm mistaking Aries for Mars now....

I have heard of Aries businessmen whose Aries energy helped them in terms of pioneering, beginning something... Not in a Uranus sense... I don't know how to describe it.

    TAURUS - hotel/restaurant...

Taurus, slow and steady builder. May build businesses upon the little things that we use everyday... Nothing dramatic or out-of-the-ordinary. Common sense and street-smarts are their mental tools.

GEMINI - publishing, or marketing/advertising company... maybe start a very informative periodical... (this sounds interesting to me!)...

CANCER - day care centers, hotel/restaurant, interior decoration, real estate, baby/children's needs products...

LEO - theater stuff... maybe modeling/acting/performing arts schools (they'd definitely enjoy the authority!)

VIRGO - health food store, alternative medicine store... cleaning stuff, yes this definitely belongs here...

LIBRA - fashion management, law firms...

SCORPIO - undertaking, i *guess*... maybe more like forensics, supplier of materials for forensic investigation, etc... Occult shops...

SAGITTARIUS - educational materials.. religious items... etc travel industry: airlines, cruise ships, etc... sports arenas...

CAPRICORN - hmm. yes accounting... building construction (suppliers)...

AQUARIUS - ...... technology... duh... lol. Okay the company that best suits the Aquarian (as owner) is... one that gathers Uranians/inventors and their ideas, and help polish the innovative products for public consumption... It doesn't always have to do with computers, just something new....

PISCES - entertainment industry... I look at the archetype of Pisces as the artist who creates ideas which the more materialistic businessmen then take and deliver as goods..... They could be producers too! Yeah that's it... Produce films, music, etc.

Knowing that we all are a mix of different signs though, (and have all the 12 signs in our charts)... it helps to keep in mind that energies could work together, and as a result the person can combine different "fields" in his/her business...

A Gemini with Pisces influences might produce a periodical which is dedicated to artworks...

Etc. Wow the Gemini/Pisces is the only example I can come up with. I don't know why. I have a fixation on "spreading info," my prevailing idea of a good business... ??? (I guess cuz I'm too focused on the fact that we live in the Information Age..)

Okay! Cancer + Virgo = hospitals... (real estate + medicine)
Scorpio + Aquarius + Capricorn = security alarm systems

----- So Uranus helps too? Bill Gates apparently had Uranus rising, in Cancer...... Technology, delivered to the public...

Oops I forgot to write in my response to Venus/Saturn aspect:

Mantis: "Of course, if we're talking about most likely to be life-long artists in business, the strongest aspect would be the Venus-Saturn conjunction. Bill Gates, Donald Trump and many other successful businessmen have that natal aspect."

      ----- I guess it's more Venus/Saturn than Cancer placements...?

Perhpas a bit more. I saw somone give a talk on that recently, and she did point out that there was a kind of pro-active creativity at work....which she claimed, also belongs to the psychopath.

She was probably overstating her case, but I can imagine what she was getting at.

I was not aware of Bill Gate's Uranus, it surely wouldhave to figure I should think. I know Zane mentioned in passing that he - and Steve Jobs, his old rival - both have almost exact Moon Eris conjunctions in Aries!
