Anyone have Sun square Moon in their chart?

I've been curious about my Taurus 11th Sun and 4th Libra Moon because I've always felt "neither here nor there" in both those realms. Kinda like I had to choose one or the other, but also that one minute I was one and then five minutes later I was the other. Does anyone else have a Sun Square Moon aspect? What are your experiences with it and how have you dealt with/overcome it?

I have Leo Sun in the third house which squares my Taurus Moon in the twelfth house. This aspect in my point of view is hard to work thru or overcome. Change constant change or I just have no motivation to work hard. It has cause me many of problems in my professional and personal relationships. For this reason I have pick my significant other on the earth side. That's where I need the most work but It just doesn't seem to ever work out. Virgo being the earth sign I am drawn to. If i could work thru this I would probably be very successful

That is interesting Zoe, I have sun sagittarius 5th house square VIRGO moon 2nd house. On a long term basis, I tend to be drawn to TAURUS guys who ground me and make me feel more secure. The sagittarius side of me looks at the big picture, while the moon side of me looks at the details. Sagittarius like fun and games and their lust dies with predictability, they need things to be mixed up but virgo gets freaked out when things are too unpredictable. I wish my personal moon/sun was as easy to integrate as my professional moon/sun persona. In my professional life having both sides has been an asset, I can wear many hats. In my personal life, people have commented that they thought they knew me but realize they didn't fully.

While I am outgoing and optimistic at times, when it comes to my personal relationships, I need to be with someone who is secure and stable. Sometime I am not always attracted to this person (venus sag sq moon virgo), so that has been a challenge. When I meet men who are on the surface are exciting to my sagittarius side, I am disappointed to learn that they don't have good jobs, are not reliable, or have fluctuating moods, and ultimately then I lose interest. It is hard to find someone who appeals to both my adventurous side and the side of me that wants security and fidelity. I have in the past resorted to having more than one man in my life at the time, one who appeals to the sag side and one who appeals to the virgo side, but ideally I would like to be with one person who appeals to both sides of me. Usually the men who appeals to my sag side don't last very long (at most a year if the sex is really good), however the men who appeal to my moon tends to be long term especially if they make an effort to be friends first. Sometimes I feel like I have to cut off my emotions for sexual gratification because the virgo part of me would never accept the person I am with. Hopefully after I pass my sexual peak (36), things will get easier.

        Tara and Zoe,
I totally get what you are saying. Tara, I find (I guess my Libra Moon) side has always gone after air sign partners. Mainly Leos. You know, someone to make the decisions because I couldn't, or whatever. But like you said, it never lasts. I need Earth too, I guess. I've got Cap in the 7th. Zoe, I guess it would make sense to never be satisfied with yourself because there are basically two sides of you. I've found that when my Taurus 11th Sun kicks in, I can talk to anyone and it's so easy. When the Libra Moon kicks in, however, I'm uncontrollably apprehensive like, "omg you mean you want me to talk to a stranger?!" you know? Tara, I think it's awesome you atleast have such an easy understanding of your personal and professional moon/sun. Do you think your sag-virgo moon/sun has any influence on your family relationships?

Not sure what you mean by your libra side not wanting to talk? Libra is the sign of relationships and other people. Being a libra sun and asc squaring my capricorn moon, I find that my libra side is the side that wants to talk to anyone and everyone. Libra being an air sign directed towards others, it inclines you to communicate with others. My Cap moon on the other hand has kept me withdrawn and out of touch at times, which always brings me down. It is a hard aspect, but some one's got to go through it. It is said that to find the meaning in hard aspects brings great rewards. It gets easier I find with time. I think the square of sun and moon requires alot of contemplation about one self. Try something new, analyze your approach and if it doesn't work, try something else. Struggle will be found, but new horizons will be discovered as well.

By the way, Leo is not an air sign....All fire, shining like the sun!

wow i iam exactly the same yet the oppositte
            libra ascendant and moon
            cappy sun
i love 2 talk 2 people, really anyone, and make them laugh
yet i dont because i am standoffish, unless i totally trust them
mostly i find that librans just want 2 be liked, by everyone
i was once like this, but finally my capricorn side kicked in and after that i really didnt give a damn whether everyone liked me, i just wanted 2 like myself
while the libra side of me is a social butterfly, the capricorn side totally snuffs that out because it dosent see the importance
            very contradictory eh?

ive never got the idea of loving because of sex. the crap? are you loving the person or just his/her genitalia? i dont know, i just cant stick that idea in my head.

however, the cutting your emotions off before your moon wouldnt accept the person youre with, tara, thats very, very virgo...an. theres always an integral side to a virgo moon (or any other strong, significant placement), and thats the self. and its not willing to share it with just anyone just because. so, yeah, i guess it makes perfect sense what you just said.

also, ive this square too, i think the hardest part of it is accepting yourself. yeah, ive issues with that

i deffinately hav acceptace issues... im not sure if my moon i squared my sun, but from reading the other posts, it seems like i do

I have Cancer Sun square Aries Moon. I don't study Western aspects, but I tend to think of this 90 degree relationship as a good thing, creating strength of character and a dynamic personality. In Vedic astrology, we look at house relationship. So a square is usually what we call a 4/10, in my case meaning that Sun is 4th from the Moon, while the Moon is 10th from the Sun. A 4/10 relationship emphasizes 4th & 10th house themes, namely home and career, so it's about establishing a firm foundation from which you can prosper.

Now, if you want to get into the schism between Cancer and Aries, that's a different issue. I'm a double Cancer, but the lord of Cancer, the Moon is in Aries, which makes me a more extroverted and hyperactive Cancer. Cancer functions best when it feels safe enough to be passive and absorb its environment, but Moon in Aries makes me want to do something to affect that environment, so it's a challenging aspect of my chart. I need to chill out on a profound level, and it's extremely difficult for me to do that, kind of a life lesson thing.

Oh yeah, there is a yoga (planetary combination) in Vedic astrology which states that if the Moon is in an angle from the Sun (basically if you were born at New, Full, or Half Moon), then you will never be prepared in life. I find this to be absolutely true in my case. It's kind of nice to know that I'm not supposed to be prepared for the next step, because I never am. Something always comes up to make any planning I do worthless.

didn't see this post, so I'm trying again...

jyotish has a technique where you can tell how prepared somebody will be in life based on the Moon's relationship to the Sun. If the Moon is in angles from the Sun (new, full, or half moon births), the person is never prepared for anything in life. I find this to be true in my case, and it's kind of nice to know that's the way it's meant to be.

      Melissa,
You're right. I think I may have it backwards or something. What I meant was that Libra loves harmony and I always felt most at peace when things were on my terms socially: that is, I talked when and only when and if I wanted to. I thought my Taurus sun placement was what made me sometimes be charismatically socially pliable. Perhaps, it's the fixed Taurean nature that makes me want to stubbornly take my time in the social arena and the Libra Moon that's all about interacting as much and as often as possible? Also, David from what you said about Cancer, maybe my Cancer rising has something to do with it? Eventhough Cancer's planet the Moon is in Libra.

But my point was there was always an off and on, push and pull. My teachers used to tell me I'd go "in and out" of it like I was internally hitting a light switch. I guess, if anything, guys we can say our Moon/Sun aspects keep us on our feet.

David, is this Jyotish technique based on natal Moon/Sun placement?

Re: Anyone have Sun square Moon in their chart?

Yes, I'm talking about the positions of the Sun and Moon in a person's natal chart, and their relationship to one another in the sky. It sort of doesn't matter what zodiac you use, since it is considering Moon phase, but the technique I learned is to count signs. People with the Moon in 3rd, 6th, 9th & 12th signs from the Sun are the most prepared for the next thing in life. People with Moon 2nd, 5th, 8th & 11th from the Sun are somewhat prepared, and people with Moon in angles from the Sun aren't prepared at all. I guess you could consider the actual degree to get a sense of the strength of it.

In Vedic, you would be a Cancer, but with a Libra "spin", like a Cancer who's seeing through the eyes of a Libra. You can do that with any rising sign, not just Cancer. I'm a Cancer with an Aries spin, but a Gemini with Mercury in Leo would be a Gemini with a Leo spin, and so on. You always want to look at the Moon too, but especially for Cancers.

Venus is important for you as well, since it rules both your Sun & Moon. You have Venus in Aries with Mercury and the lord of Aries, so Aries is also really important for you. In Jyotish, Mars in its own sign in an angle like that makes you an avatar of Mars. It is own of the pancha mahaparusa (five great people) yogas. The Mars one is called Ruchaka, I thinky it means "ruddy one" or something. You're supposed to actually look and/or behave like Mars. It's good for longevity, and it's a very good yoga for Cancers as Mars is yogakaraka (like a power planet) for Cancer. Mercury & Venus will be a couple of monkey wrenches, but ultimately it's seen as a very favorable blessing on the chart.

Of course, in Vedic it's all in the timing, as different planets play out their story at different times of your life.

I agree with Natty, David! That was very interesting what you posted. And thank you for the little mini-reading. :-)

I don't know about Vedic (yet), but I personally feel that the natal planets are constantly concerning themselves with timing.

The main timing factor in Jyotish is known as the dasas. Each planet has a dasa, and all the dasas together make a 120 year cycle (considered a normal human life span by the ancients!!). Everyone has the same cycle, but where you start in the cycle depends on what nakshatra (star) your Moon was in when you were born. For example, my Moon is in the star of Revati ruled by Mercury, so I started my life in my Mercury dasa. I have experienced Mercury, Ketu (south node), Venus, and now I am currently in my Sun dasa. There are also sub-dasas within the main dasa, in the same order, down to five levels. The dasas are used to make predictions. Planets play out their karmas within their dasa.

Since the dasas are based on the nakshatra, it doesn't matter if you are using tropical or sidereal for signs. The dasa system is based on what star your Moon is in, which is always sidereal. So most Vedic astrologers would agree about what dasa you are in, although there are slightly different ways to calculate it.

            Natalie,

This is my current teacher's website:

            www.vedic-astrology.net/

I am Level I certified by ACVA, and working on Level II:

            www.vedicastrology.org/

My first Vedic astrology teacher was this guy:

            www.vedanet.com/

There's a ton of info online, just do a search for vedic astrology or jyotish.

One note: Most Vedic astrologers calculate charts sidereally, but not my teacher. He thinks the zodiac was always originally meant to be tropical, and then it got confused with the star sphere during the kali yuga (dark ages). Vedic astrology has always had a sidereal system, known as the nakshatras, but that is different from the 12-sign zodiac.

So I am weird in that I am a Vedic astrologer who uses the tropical zodiac.

Vedic astrologers use a whole sign house system. I don't think astro.com has that option, but it's really easy to figure it out yourself. Basically, whatever the Rising Sign is, that's the entire first house. The 2nd sign from the Rising Sign is the 2nd house, the 3rd sign is the 3rd house, etc. There is none of the complicated house cusps and intersected houses, etc. So just calculate the chart normally on astro.com using the tropical zodiac, and then you can draw the chart out yourself, putting the planets in the proper houses according to what sign they are in as counted from the Ascendant.

I don't think astro.com will calculate your nakshatras or your dasas. For that you need a Vedic astrology software.

Sun square moon! That makes for crazy fun people! The only guys who can top me in the "you're crazy" department are sun square moon people :P These guys are NEVER boring :) You see ... it's not about choosing one or the other (sun or moon). It's about merging the planets and aspects to one personality :) Having problems doing that? Start by listing up all their good and bad qualities. Try to improve the negatives and accetuate the positives! Personal astrology development 101 for beginners :P

Personally, I think the aries sun and capricorn moon work well together. I just need to learn to listen to other peoples advice. Starting today. On a side note, you really have to consider a persons upbringing, valliues and principals. My parents, being the air signs that they are, thaught me to be very moral, selfless and good to people. An aries sun with a cap moon could easily had turn out for the worse if he had a bad upbringing.

Sun opposition moon are fun people too. Those funny little firecrackers :) These are my best friends.

For some reason, sun trine moon people tend to just annoy me. I don't know why. They just have this bad vibe. One thing I noticed is that most of them have this arrogant "im better than you" attitude. Cant seem to create a real lasting connection with them. Oh well, maby it's just the ones I know.

kind of off the thread. but i was wondering what would be the significance of being born on the day of an eclipse. one of my closer friends back in the day asked me this question cause she was born on the day of a solar eclipse. i have not a clue. is this important in a natal chart? i have no idea, but maybe someone on here does or at least an idea. i actually checked & i was born the day after a lunar eclipse. does this mean something? hmmm...

      any thoughts or ideas.
