Planets Conjunct House Cusps in Natal Chart

Hi!
I'm absolutely new to the Tribe scene.
I love the energy on this tribe and i cant help being hooked on the lively discussions here. Keep it up everyone! :)

Anyway, i've been studying astrology for a few years but i cant seem to find out if there is any significant meaning when a planet is conjunct a house cusp in a natal chart? Especially the transpersonal planets.

Any enlightenment on this will be greatly appreciated!

Indie-go

(ps: using the Placidus House system, my Pluto is in Libra at 21" 33' exactly conjunct my 6th house cusp. What are the odds of that!
I also have Uranus in Scorpio at 23" 52' sitting on my Descendant at 22" 38'.
My Mercury is in Sag at 22" 24'; conjunct my Neptune at 20" 47'; which is smacked on my 8th house cusp at 20" 52'.
I've always had a feeling that these are not mere coincidences. Anyone else has examples of their own to share?)

Woah... that's a great example steve, thanks.

So do you think it would have made a difference if they weren't on the cusps?
In what way does it affect your life?

starting with mars on my ascendant, i'm fond of beginnings, new ground, first impressions, instigation . . . stuff like that.

My ascendant is also being tightly aspected by the 4 planets.

          6th hse Pluto quincunx asc
          7th hse Uranus opp asc
8th hse mercury and neptune quincunx asc

I guess thats why i've constantly felt pressured to adjust myself to accomodate the needs of partners, loved ones and people i work with. With a taurus moon and ascendant, the bull in me puts up quite a resistance. Growing up, i've been labeled a "stubborn rebel" by loved ones, but i guess i was just digging in my heels or charging in my own directions in response to the different pressures coming my way.

I've had 3 different jobs in the last 8 years and i've never done the same kind of work twice. I'm re-invented each time i change directions. And no matter where i am working, there is always some kind of power struggle between co-workers. This is what i've noticed even before i found out pluto is on my 8th house cusp.

Hmmm... this is the 1st time i've attempted to sum up my life in such an objective way. It's quite theraputic. :)

I've been an astrologer for about 15 years and here is my Aquarian as subjective as i can be, take on the question. The Grand Cross or Medicine Wheel of a chart [rising, descendant, MC and IC] are the most powerful cusps. Each cusp of each house is important but those four radiate a lot of energy. I would first look at what planets and asteroids fall there to see the power magnified 10 times its power. I have a 29 degree Leo Midheaven and Pluto and Isis on the midheaven conj in the 10th house at 1 degree Virgo. This has been a major influence on my life. What happened was as a designer in my old career, i would always SIT or be in an office right next to the President or CEO of a corporaton, yet i had no outer physical power [Pluto] but learned that the plutonian behind the scenes, such as the prime minister archetype who could influence the nature of an outcome. When i was younger i didn't understand this and of course was very UNCONSCIOUS.

As i got older especially past my saturn return [saturn conj mars in sag in the second] i began to feel i was gaining influence and power but with a fourth house moon, prefered to let my emotions dominate my judgments in an intuitive way, thus using Pluto as a companion rather than an enemy. After i chose EMPOWERMENT as my course it was then i began to become a MIRROR for the repressed unconscious of Pluto in other people [especially then the CEOs and Presdn't]. This was difficult to understand the undercurrents and pushed my life into a more metaphyiscal nature rather than a power nature of the physical power. [fancy car, high salary, designer clothing etc] so prevelant in the Media in which i worked. I just kept it simple and worked harder and harder at understanding the MIRROR nature of Pluto on my Midheaven cusp.

One doesn't master Pluto on the Midheaven, one becomes accountable and personally responsible for it. I learned positive detachment of others emotional response to my pluto and there were many painful yet TRANFORMATIVE expereinces.

Now i have ALL SQUARES in my chart EXCEPT for Pluto which trines my Jupiter, Neptune and North Node Conjunction in the 12th in Scorpio. Being a scorpio rising i could say... hey hows your day going... and a person would snap back and say... what do you mean by that, whats your problem. I found out that i could say the exact same thing a libra rising person would say and for some reason, they unconsciouslly knew i could tap into their 'secret' place inside that no one but them knew. I was totally oblivous to this until i realized what was happenning. After finally so many swords thrown, i put down my niceness and picked up the Sword. I awlays saw the sword in the corner of the room all my life but finally had to pick it up. Not to use it, but to know if i was attacked i could show some power so not to be plutonian attacked by anothers inability to touch their own plutonian side in which they not only feared, expecially the CEO types but the average person as well. For a long time i didn't like my scorpio rising or the pluto mideaven... having to bring the unconscious darkness from the IC up to the Light of Day.

I did this when the war broke out and challenged in a peaceful way why our paper was not covering the peace initiatives. I told them i would hold my own peace walk right before the war broke out and invited them along with all the other media. They didn't come, everyone else did. That monday i returned to work, called into an office with the top 4 white male over 60 powers at be and they said we suspect you of planting messages of peace in the paper and are going to take action against you. f

Well well here we are a simple artist who offered one bit of shadow truth and the axe came down hard. I looked at them in the light of peace and said I resign. The publisher said, would you put that in writing the minute you walk out this door. I said yes and said i wanted my two weeks.

I worked then as an insider who had betrayed them, although i did nothing but hold a peace walk to have them cover it for the first time in its history, peace on the cover of the newspaper. I took the fall, left my career. But it only activated my Pluto on the midheaven with courage and strength with that Virgoan detail to educated them at what they were blind to.

Now my Aquarian Sun conj Venus and Chiron in the 3rr opposite Uranus in the 9th was seeking visionary educcation to a traditional conservative paper and i held my aquarian side back and uranian and let pluto do its work. and many many wonderful things have resulted in this loss.... teaching dreams and dreaming in italy, and the activation and commitment to my shamanic gifts and work on temples around the world. If Pluto had not tested me then, there was no way i would have been able to work witth it in my true North Node calling of the 12th.

So to me Cusp planets are extremely important and the planets that fall there, even Luminaries, but since WHOLENESS of opposing houses are important to understand the nature of what needs balance, now my Pisces Moon in the 4th is at Peace because i tasted the ocean of destruction, transformation and regeneration.

My Pluto is still a mystery to me and i do feel a little intimidated by it. TRANFORMATIVE is the word to describe it. I have learned to embrace transformation, and it does feel powerful when you learn to master transformation and be responsible for it; instead of letting circumstances force you to change.

A planet near the cusp of the house essentially operates in both houses.

Does that mean a planet will be more focused on the house issues, if it were positioned in the middle of the house, rather than the beginning of the house cusp?

I've read that a planet near the end of a house is getting ready to change focus, therefore it will have less influence there. My Neptune is sitting on my 8th house cusp, but technically it's a few mins (or is it secs?) away from the cusp. So it's kind of iffy to me.

i think that planets on cusps of HOUSES are more significantly/definitively associated with the house being entered than a planet that falls in the middle of that house, and they're virtually unrelated to the preceding house unless the planet is retrograde or not yet all that close to the actual cusp. I don't ever try to associate a planet with more than one house. Sign cusps are a separate matter . . . more morphable, perhaps, though I've personally never found morphing signs to be an easily accomplishable feat.

What are the degrees in which the planet can be determined as being on a cusp of 2 houses-and be influenced by both. i know by looking at the planet you can tell obviously whether it is more in the middle or near another house, but there has to be telling degrees to be more accurate about it. Maybe the first/last 5 degrees..?

Oh, i see. So house cusps are the entry way to the house, therefore like the Aces of the 4 suits of the tarot, captures the essence of the house it is in. I get it now.

                      Thanks steve!

thanks indie, that's a good way of seeing it.

bella,: on either side of the, i consider planets to be in one house or the other. maybe that's just me being lazy. Aspects to the house cusps, particularly the cardinal angles, are another matter. i give them the same orbs as i'd give the same planet in aspect to another planet.

                  >A planet near the cusp of the house essentially operates in both houses<
Yeah, I was going to suggest somehing like this. I think it might draw on one house as the subjectand the next as the object...where the the resourses of the behind-house ae being applied in the arena of the forward-house...through the catalytic application of the planet. Yeah, the planet acts like a catalyst for the two houses to achieve a combined purpose.

                  Consider this:
The Moon on the cusp of the 9th House. Here the Moon would be drawing on the issues of give-and-take and rebirth found in the 8th House...and would apply them to a kind of sacred philosophy or odyssey in the 9th House. So this might be a person who is deeply involved with the give-and-take issues of the 8th House, but they apply it in the 9th House which can be an odyssey of the mind, as in HIGHER EDUCATION maybe. The Moon often rules things like economics and domestics...so maybe this is someone who teaches or studies in realm of economics. Economic issues can easly be adressed by the Moon and the 8th House...and the 9th House would apply this in a scholastic setting, or maybe someone who travels for commerce or maybe an import/export specialist. Alot would depend on the signs involved, though.

i have always put the planet in the next house if it's 1-3 degrees away from the cusp. for example venus, neptune, & pluto are conjunct cusps in my natal chart. venus is in 3rd house 1 degree from the 4th cusp so i consider it in the 4th house & neptune is conjunct 3rd house cusp so i consider it in the 3rd house. now my pluto is in the 12th house 5 degrees from the ascendant so i interpret it as being in the 12th house. this seems to work for me... but it wouldn't surprise me if both houses were effected when a transiting planet(s) formed a major aspect to a natal planet near the cusp

This sounds liek a common Aquarius tendency, or Uranus anyway. Of course different Aquarians might have drastically differing degrees of this behavior. Itslightly true of me. I am a journeyman butcher and have also woked in every department in several Civil Engineering firms. And I also have played the piano/keyboard for for 24 and have played in several semi-professional bands, both for profit and non-profit. My Uranus is in the 10th House and I'm an Aquarius.

Don't know how much the tendency you mentioned is actually related to cusps, Indigo.
            Just some food for thought.

By the way, to support what I said about Uranus - and mine being in the 10th House - I've been called "Freelancin' FJ" by some!

This is a a very old post- tonight I was preparing a chart whose north node is on the 5th 6th house cusp. In koch placidus and prophyry they are all pretty much very cuspy.

I think that angular houses definately apply to what Stevo said, but I have friends who have planets on non angular house cusps and it's very difficult to know what the proper interpretation is. It's easy to get headry about this and forget that our chart represents, to a strong degree, our journey- it must be so that the answer is always within us.

I wonder what thoughts there are on this matter these days.

have neptune on my 5th house cusp not sure what it means, one said that the negative influence would be from the 4th house and the positive influence would be from the 5th, and another said that it gives it kind of both 4th and 5th house influence but i dont know, but also have saturn 3 degrees from ic and mars conj mc but 6 degree orb on that one

I have Jupiter at 1 Leo in H2 and I have a few friend with their Moons on 0 degrees. I haven't found much info online regarding cusp planets but I did see once that some propose it means that the planet will influence both houses. *shrugs*

Re: Planets Conjunct House Cusps in Natal Chart

    Well,

I have Scorpio Pluto on the cusp of my 3rd house, so I think it takes on traits from the 2nd house, as well. But it is almost 2 degrees in the 3rd, so I guess it manifests more in matters of the mind and communication.

In a way, I can draw a parallel between my feelings on my Pluto and YOUniverse's experience with hers.

People sometimes react fearfully or cautiously towards me when I express my opinions. On a positive note, though, I can be very convincing and persuading.-especially when I pull the angular Venus veil over Pluto's wicked manipulative intentions.."giggles"

I am a master at knowing what people think. I never miss anything they say-I see the hidden meaning behind every little thing they do-why they choose to use one word in favor of another, why they hold their hand in a particular position when they speak. Why they like wearing a particular color etc.

I am not in complete control of how to use this "skill" yet, but I am slowly getting there...

Then, I also have my Pisces Sun on the cusp of the 7th house-they say it means I define myself by the one I am in a relationship with, but that's one interpretation that doesn't suit me.
Nor am I attracted to "leonian" types-I have to be the only "drama queen" in my relationships.lol

So, I am not exactly sure of how that Sun works. But I also have Venus in Pisces in the 6th house conjunct my Descendant, so..yes, I would definitely marry a cook. But u know...what woman wouldn't?"giggles"
