Saturn has (finally?) left virgo and entered libra. What do you all think this saturn in libra will mean?
The recession might be seeing the light in the end of the tunnel, however I've read that when Saturn transits a sign, people get serious about that sign and decide they need structure in that sign. In other words the sign it occurs in might be seen as problematic or lacking in structure.
On the negative side this might indicate that there will be problems relating to groups of certain kinds, peers and something to do with the sense of belonging within people which might cause conflicts in for instance peoples sense of social standing and justice. I'm thinking about the last time saturn was in libra in the beginning of the 80's when the happy bohemian 70's was over and capitalism had resurfaced again which led to alot of people feeling frustrated and oppressed and also the time when angry, frustrated punkmusic rose in popularity to mirror the (mostly) young peoples feeling of being neglected by or not belonging in the capitalist society machine.
This might also be a time when people will take matters in their own hands instead of just trusting that the "big brother" will take care of it, however this can also include taking justice on their own hands which aren't as good.
Saturn is also said to be uncomfortable in libra since saturn is more at home in an earth sign. Saturn in air can tend to create a rif between the people and the government which leads to their relationship becoming unstable and suspicious. However I think we all can agree that saturn in virgo wasn't very positive in its influence so I think saturn in libra have a good chance of having a positive effect.
Saturn in libra could mean that people get "libran issues" such as sensitivity to peer pressure, group riots, bad habits such as alcohol or drugs or the positive libra influence like the quest for a laid back, esthetic and social life style OR they - due to saturn - reject the libra qualities and think they need to structure them.
When saturn was in cancer around 2003-2004 USA started the war in Iraq which stemmed alot from fear of being unsafe and then handeling it and "protecting" their country by doing something traditional and already tried, however the feeling of being unsafe was pretty much an issue all over the world. This was also the hight of the concern around being overweight-craze and when the dieting market exploded and actresses and people on tv in general started to set the size-zero standards, which is symbolized by saturns rejection of cancers food/nurturing qualities.
After that saturn entered leo which was the hight of shows like American idol and all those similar competition and reality shows and the debates about what people were willing to do in order to become famous, seen and exposed. Gossip blogs on the internet grew in popularity and the celebrity obsessions intensified.
Coming to saturn in virgo I guess it was alot about holding on to your resources due to the recession, but although virgo is supposed to be very health-conscious I think people have seem to grow tired on the whole fitness-craze which might actually be a rejection from saturn again? I'm not sure...
(On a sidenote I have to add the "twilight" movie, true blood and all those vampire themes became popular during saturn in virgo, so even though an average astrologer would connect vampires to scorpio (naturally) I think they actually also relate to virgo! I've looked into it and people that are a bit vampire-ish and into pale skin, dark lipstick, victorian clothes etc always have virgo positions! A few celebrities who are a bit like this are Dita von Teese -virgo mars, Evan Rachel Wood -virgo sun, venus and mars, Zooey Deschanel -virgo mars and jupiter, Eva Green -virgo mars, Frances Bean Cobain -virgo venus, Asc and jupiter, Michelle Trachtenberg -virgo moon, venus, mars, Noomi Rapace -virgo mars and jupiter, christina ricci -virgo mars, asc and jupiter. )

Re: Saturn has entered Libra.
Fri, October 30, 2009 - 8:21 AMHow can we talk about Saturn in Virgo without mentioning a spate of 'pandemic' scares and finally Swine Flu.
I would imagine the issues pertaining to marriage will be challenged with Saturn in Libra, quite possibly the battlefield will be homosexual marriage. Also I think relationships in general will take on a new timbre as will international diplomacy.
On the positive side, it might be time to start balancing out our economy with saturn entering libra.
Let's not be too hasty though. Saturn hasn't left Virgo fully yet, it will retrograde back into virgo again before leaving for good (or for this cycle at least!)
Let's not forget that Saturn is essentially dignified in Libra though! -

"How can we talk about Saturn in Virgo without mentioning a spate of 'pandemic' scares and finally Swine Flu"
Right! how could I forget the flu... True, true.
"I would imagine the issues pertaining to marriage will be challenged with Saturn in Libra, quite possibly the battlefield will be homosexual marriage. Also I think relationships in general will take on a new timbre as will international diplomacy. "
Yes, even though saturn was at the very end of virgo the other day, sweden just allowed gay people to be married in church which astrologically seems like the dawning of the libra saturn!
"Let's not be too hasty though. Saturn hasn't left Virgo fully yet, it will retrograde back into virgo again before leaving for good (or for this cycle at least!) "
Yes, also true, but I still think there's room for much speculations of what this will come to mean! :) -

Oh that IS interesting!
It will be interesting with america though. This will be the first time (I think) that both Pluto and Saturn are in their 'natal' signs for america.
Certainly issues with the economy will be either transformed (pluto) or strengthened (saturn). I expect international diplomacy to change in some way - one presumes for the better, but its hard to tell, certainly obama's presidency might be seen to be dithering and indecisive - too much talk and not enough action, or perhaps the right kind of talk to get things done.
Hard to tell!

Re: Saturn has entered Libra.
Fri, October 30, 2009 - 9:16 AMWhat is interesting about Saturn leaving a sign is that you hear an amplification of the metaphor. For example, Saturn represents elderly people, and Virgo represents health care, and in the US you have a lot of elderly people concerned about the government's healthcare proposals. Saturn in Libra also rules laws--people are becoming more concerned about the laws that congress imposes, and are demanding that they be posted on line where they can be read.
Another thing about Saturn in Libra--you're hearing a LOT of talk about civility and people being polite (or impolite) to one another. Started with the congressman who yelled "You lie" at Obama during his congressional address awhile back. (Of course, Obama is still going through an eclipse on his natal Mercury, so that may have been in play too.) Libra represents good manners, civility.
Saturn in Libra is of particular interest to the generations born with Neptune in Libra, Pluto in Libra and/or Uranus in Libra.

Fri, October 30, 2009 - 9:20 AM"Another thing about Saturn in Libra--you're hearing a LOT of talk about civility and people being polite"
Oh that's a good point, I would expect some 'political correctness' issues to arise!
"Saturn in Libra is of particular interest to the generations born with Neptune in Libra, Pluto in Libra and/or Uranus in Libra."
I would think it will be of interest to anyone with any planet in Libra or in any cardinal sign, as it means that throughout its cycle it will be making major aspects to that planet. I've just had a Saturn square to my sun, mercury and mars the last year or so. Next up, the cardinal signs! -

Re: Saturn has entered Libra.
Fri, October 30, 2009 - 9:29 AM
President Obama signed a major gay rights bill yesterday.
I believe that could fit with Saturn in Libra.
It also occurred during Sun conjunct heliocentric South Eris Node/Earth conjunct North Eris Node.
Libra is the Perihelion (the point of the orbit that is closest to the Sun) sign of Eris. Some believe that Eris might end up being ruler of Libra. It does seem to have to do with equality. Especially, when you consider it's Persephone/Proserpina-like orbit. Pluto/Hades and Ceres/Demeter were forced to split equal time with Proserpina/Persephone.
Libra is also the sign of Chiron's North Node
Interestingly, Scorpio is the Perihelion sign of Pluto. Pluto was given the rulership of the sign of its perihelion. It makes me wonder if the same will be done to Libra.
Saturn is square Pluto in Capricorn right now too.
Saturn-Pluto double whammy.
Pluto is in the sign of its South Node too

Fri, October 30, 2009 - 10:27 AMMichele and Paul
Yes, debates surrounding political correctness sounds very likely. Libra is after all a sign that centers around social graces and the ways of interaction in general.
Although I have to add that libra isn't always about 'grace' per se, I know a few people with prominent libra influences and they can be very blunt and ungraceful but they are all very into the whole 'ways of interacting with people', personal social experiments and things like that. I have to add a funny thing about this topic... we have an expert here in sweden on human behaviors and interactions who's a libra and he's written a whole book on the optimal ways in making contact and mingeling with people. I think that's so funny... -

Re: Saturn has entered Libra.
Fri, October 30, 2009 - 10:33 AMI just joined the libra tribe and was just saying how the shadow of libra is of course Aries! Lots of librans will upset the apple cart if they don't think it's right, to put it back properly - disturbance for the greater good.
Lots of politicians who brought us to war have strong libras in their chart! -

Re: Saturn has entered Libra.
Mon, November 2, 2009 - 10:53 AMI'm also thinking this might effect each individuals view on love and romance, and not just the whole society view on it. I can imagine that a theme of this libra saturn will revolve around how we personally want love to be and what we personally romantizise about, which might make a slight change during this period.
Also, one has to remember that libra as a sign prefers to view things through a more optimistic and rosy perspective rather than being realistic which might make this view on partnership and romance overoptimistic and unrealistic?
This in turn might also lead to questions about faithfulness and unfaithfulness and our own view on it as well as society's view on it.

Re: Saturn has entered Libra.
Mon, November 2, 2009 - 11:23 AMthe crisis will not be over yet. saturn will now oppose uranus in aries from libra; then theyll both retrograde and oppose each other from virgo and pisces in 2010.
when uranus is in aries and saturn in libra, theyll also form a T-square with pluto in capricorn. the crisis will restart these months (putting and end to all those news from a couple months ago where analysits were rejoicing at the fact the crisis had hit rock bottom) and get harder too, maybe, who knows.
itll aaall be over after summer 2010, when all these slow moving Titans stop afflicting each other, not before. -

Re: Saturn has entered Libra.
Wed, November 4, 2009 - 2:39 PMI'm also thinking saturn in libra will bring teenagers and young people into the spotlight somehow. There will be things relating to young people and how they view the world as well as what groups they associate with, the trends that they follow and things like that. Political parties/groups or sects might be a problem.
Also movies and/or documentaries will be at he center of attention and become even more widely talked about, especially the morals of them, or lack there of. I'm also predicting that they'll develope a new style or tehnique within film and/or photography.
I think it's good to write theories like this down to see if you were right afterwards. -

Re: Saturn has entered Libra.
Thu, November 5, 2009 - 3:10 AM" I'm also predicting that they'll develope a new style or tehnique within film and/or photography. "
I certainly hope so. A good NEW movie is hard to come by these days. The dawn of the special-effect sera seemed to insinuate great things to come. Effects are awesome....... now days every other phase of movie structure has gone south, it seems. Casting,acting,plots,writing.......
Saturn squaring Pluto for a bit should bring some interesting dynamics into this whole ordeal :-) -
-
Re: Saturn has entered Libra.
Thu, November 5, 2009 - 3:18 AMObviously as well as Saturn entering Libra, Saturn will be making an opposition to Uranus again and will both be T-Squaring Pluto in Capricorn, at the same time, Mars will begin in January to retrograde back through Leo, which will take about 5 months.
I think issues relating to war will come up again and perhaps bases and stations that were thought to be safe, will become a battle ground again as troops attempt to 'retake' the areas. With Saturn entering Libra there could be more 'pressure' to come to a diplomatic or negotiable conclusion to these wars and there may be more 'opportunity' or pressure to actually speak diplomatically to the taliban etc etc.
I also think, which I think I said earlier, that we can expect lots of focus on partnership and marriage - homosexual marriage in the states is likely to become a major focus, perhaps particularly when saturn-uranus oppositions again and t-squares pluto. -
-

I certainly hope NOT. I know you are thinking hypothetically. The Taliban deserve diplomacy like a child rapist deserves a slap on the wrist. I believe diplomacy is a balancing factor when the opposing forces are within reasonable bounds for agreement. The Taliban are not within those bounds, in my ever so humble opinion.
As for homosexual marriage, that potent T-square may very well propel the situation into new dimensions

Thu, November 5, 2009 - 4:01 AM"I certainly hope NOT. I know you are thinking hypothetically. The Taliban deserve diplomacy like a child rapist deserves a slap on the wrist."
I AM thinking hypothetically, but something about this strikes me that, particularly with mars retrograding through Leo, there will be a lot of peacock chest inflating and 'look at me' stuff going on with politicians and world leaders and it might be that as mars retrogrades, bases and towns that the army thought were 'free' or were 'secure' become battlegrounds again. The pressure towards a diplomatic solution may escalate as people get fed up fighting what might be perceived as and 'endless' battle with no real progress being made. Only time will tell. If it does appear that way we can come back to it then. I love stuff like this tho cos it allows us to speculate on the future using astrology and we can tell if it comese to fruition by just waiting six - 12 months! lol
"As for homosexual marriage, that potent T-square may very well propel the situation into new dimensions "
It almost certainly will. Saturn-Uranus alone would suggest some kind of change here, particularly with Saturn being in the sign of marriage. What is worrying is whether it will take place when Mars retrogrades, as Uranus will be in Aries, and disposited by a retrograde planet. This might suggest that the 'conservative' mindset takes over. If that happens then the pressure toward Pluto, ruling all things taboo, might 'boil over' and rioting or something along those lines might occur. Alternately you might look at it that the fight is taken out of it. -

I do hope this comes to pass. Terrorism has to be fought in a more constructive way across the globe. We can't concentrate our efforts in one isolated region. We have to unite as a people , indifferent to country, state or any body of origin. I believe this type of unity can propel us into the Aquarian Age with a vigor and togetherness like never seen before.

True. As Saturn can "take the fight out of it" , from what I've gathered that with the Mars-Saturn configuration the will is often styfled or difused for a period then over-compensated for by excessive force in order to prove strength or legitimacy. With Uranus being in the sign of Mars opposing Saturn, I anticipate an almost drastic withdrawal followed by inactivity........and then a colossal, forceful revolution or a threat thereof. The mere threat of riots or chaos can bring about much change

I had meant that Mars retrograde may take the fight out of uranus in Aries, could be that we only really see the arien energy shine through when Mars moves forward again. Aries will bein Leo and Saturn in Libra, so they won't really be making any aspects, a sextile perhaps.
"The mere threat of riots or chaos can bring about much change "
Yeah perhaps that's what will happen. I'm just thinking that the shadow side of Libra is Aries, Uranus the reformer is in Aries and is disposited by a retrograde Mars. At the same time Libra and Uranus will square Pluto in Capricorn, pluto being disposited by Saturn. Kind of a tight little T-Squre there, but weakened in the first few months by a retrograde Mars. Perhaps the threat of violence is what we should expect. Hard to know...
I'm thinking perhaps that the retrograde mars might indicate strikes of some kind. Particularly with the pluto in cap too...

Thu, November 5, 2009 - 4:02 AMI think it's complicated though because appropriate punishment here and there easily gets subjective and out of line, ending up in as bad stuff as the crime itself sometimes. I don't think it creates good energies to focus on who should be punished...
Perhaps this dawning libra saturn squeezed in a corner by squares and opps might become afflicted and thereby revolve around *justice and punishment* usa style, however I really hope not.

Thu, November 5, 2009 - 4:20 AMlets do! will be my saturn return too..
along with initially conjuncting my pluto, and later mars.. will also square my sun, square my venus and trine my moon
by the way saturn entered my 6th house allready, were saturn is also located, so in a sense im allready preparing for it.....
i hope saturn and i can make amends by that time.... he does not like me :P -

Going back to Saturn in Libra, I think the justice system may come under pressure or the focus of attention may shift to the justice system. Perhaps an 'unfair' case will be the catalyst?

Agreed, in essence. Aside from balance and relationships Libra is also symbolic of justice. Really, though, what isn't "subjective" in a world where decisions are made by humans? Saturn seems to bring severe and somewhat harsh judgement by nature.
Perhaps the " libra-rosy-colored optimistic and kind-style" will in fact prevail. As long as we live long enough, we shall see

Re: Saturn has entered Libra.
Mon, November 9, 2009 - 2:29 AMa very short but right description i think!
but then again... the people i know with saturn in libra (including 2 ex's), are sticking to relationships, although they know it is a malfunctioning one, even to the point of getting abused, ignored, they will stay... they just cannot do without a relationship in their live...
and i think this will also be a strong tendency while saturn is in libra.... a lot of people will notice the faults in their own relationships, or will notice that they are unhappy, unfulfilled, reconsidering.. but i am not quiet sure saturn in libra gives the courage to break out of it and start anew...
anyway.. we should all prepare for some serious nitpicking in relationships..!

Re: Saturn has entered Libra.
Tue, November 17, 2009 - 4:01 PMI definitely believe that for people with Saturn in Libra (me) that we will start looking at our relationships and find that we are not completely happy in them. I am already seeing it including myself. My return in starting and my saturn sits barely in my 3rd house and capricorn is in my 6th and aquarius (saturn the traditional ruler) is in my 7th definitely makes me think that I am going to change my day job and do something different, look at my current marriage and it it will have to drastically change or else I am out of there.
All these themes I have been thinking about for some time now and I find it interesting when I studied my chart all that came up! I also think its weird that I will be 29 in June and June is also the month I can quit my job without losing the retirement I have been building up for 5 years! You gotta love astrology :) -

Re: Saturn has entered Libra.
Tue, November 17, 2009 - 8:59 PMI am in the process of weeding out my energy output. Put simply, I am thinking about how much energy I put out and get back in return. Currently, Saturn at 1+ degrees of libra is not only about to enter my 5th house, but is exactly sextile my Venus/Jupiter conjunction in Leo (the prettiest thing I own).
I like it. I don't like giving anything away, and I have been doing so for a good part of the last 7 years (as saturn traveled through my 1st quadrant). I have a natal Saturn sextile, so I can live with it's 'repression/reprecussion.' I just know I'm looking for reality these days, and my head is not far up my arse (like it ever was, LOL, but just slightly not so far up).

Re: Saturn has entered Libra.
Wed, November 18, 2009 - 3:37 AM"definitely believe that for people with Saturn in Libra (me) that we will start looking at our relationships and find that we are not completely happy in them."
I said in the other thread about Saturn in Libra, but again put briefly, Saturn in Libra people are called to be more 'realistic' about relationships. Sometimes Libra energy can make a fairytale out of romance - or expect romance to be like in fairytales or modern day rom-coms, but of course the reality is very different, and the thing with Saturn in Libra can often be to get 'serious' or 'real' about their relationships and not just idealise or mythologise them in their heads, or think about what perfect love 'should be'. The problem is that Libra energy has a standard of what love 'should be', there's a specific mould, and in reality not very many people can fit that mould all of the time.
If your natal saturn is also in libra, then you're about to have a saturn return, and that's a whole other ball game! -

"...i said uranus and saturn because saturn will return to virgo in april and uranus will move to aries in may and you have transiting uranus in the 9th house and that's in square to pluto in the 6th in your solar return, and pluto is in opposition to mars in your solar return in the 12th. that pluto-mars opposition will be on the 10th and 4th house angles at that time. uranus would be on the 7th house..."
I have tried looking up houses, aspects and transitions separately but haven't been able to grasp the true and exact meaning of the dynamics. The friend who peeked into my solar return for me said this had something to do with getting "married off" or being in a "dangerous situation". I'd really like to know the opinion of another astrologer; usually it's difficult for me to let it rest astrologically and I do extra digging to find different perspectives, something that I feel has- may be- a lot to do with first house Uranus.
I know I have barged in on a discussion here and my apologies for that but I feel the topic is relevant to my query. -

Re: Saturn has entered Libra.
Thu, November 19, 2009 - 12:12 PMit's funny that you forgot to mention the most violent shove into Virgo consciousness that has been hovering over the past 2 years or so:the "threat" of global pandemics. First, bird flu, then swine flu.
Hopefully Saturn in Libra will end all of that with a hand shake between state officials and the vaccine providers.
I think, in terms of how a planet can shape generational mentality you need to look at its relations with the other generational planets...
so, looking at the astro.com ephemeris, shit is going to hit the fan around August 2010, when the opposition between Saturn in Libra and Uranus in Aries is going to tighten up at around 1 degree orb difference, and Pluto will go retro and square both Saturn and Uranus at a less than 3 degree orb...
And, since according to the theory, a T-square generates a lot of tension looking for release in the point opposite the "squaring planet" - in this case, Pluto - we might witness people desperately clinging or even going back to traditions(the opposite of Pluto in the first Decan of Cap is the first Decan of Cancer..), out of a desire to settle the collective need for a rebirth of social hierarchy(Pluto in Cap).
Since Pluto is the one that s more stubborn in its way, my intuition tells me the rest of the less rapid-evolving transits are subdued by its powerful influence, almost as if trying to "please" Pluto-give him what he needs so that he may shut up, and we may all move on..
Notice that, now, Saturn becomes Pluto's dispositor, and falls in rational, detached Libra, so it all seems to point out to one step further towards social rebirth, since it also opposes Uranus in Aries(of all signs!), a position of extreme rebelliousness and excessive focus on the individual needs. AND, the opposition in itself is an aspect which invites to a calm pondering/analysis of strengths and weaknesses.
My guess is after it's all gone(the T-square, as well as any remaining individual aspects), we will all be more "united", having seen how destructive the focus on individuality and uniqueness can be.. -

Yes I know I forgot to mention it in my original post but Paul pointed it out in the beginning of the thread and I acknowledged it.
However right now I think the swine flu is such a jupiter conj neptune in aquarius thing.
Neptune can stand for illness and weakness, it's magnified by jupiter and located in aquarius which in transit stands for 'the people'.
Aquarius also stands for the healthcare (it being the humanitarian salvage for everyone and anyone).

This sounds likeable. I think the western world usually go to one saide or the other which is either strive desperately towards everything thats modern and unlike the past, or panic about things not feeling like it used to and try to recreate everything as it was.

Yes, the cardinal opposition will probably be quite rebellious. I'm thinking people will begin to resemble teenagers alot in their quest for paving their way and the t-square formed by pluto might make the people devided in the sense that the capitalist dinosaurs sits firmly on their throwns and refuses to move, which inturn makes the people embodying the saturn-uranus arĂes/libra opp even more frustrated and the rift between these groups of people might become large.
I'm mostly curious about what neptune in pisces will stand for though. I think neptune however will have a good influence in the t-square and bring needed philantropy to the angry chaos.
I also think virtual realities will have its all time peak and internet will evolve a huge deal and become less about words. Although uranus in aries isn't very internet-oriented...
