Trend within friends

Have you noticed something that your close friends have in common astrologically?
My three closest friends have both the sun and moon in the same sign (not as each other but sun and moon in leo, sun and moon in aquarius etc). I've also noticed that the closest friends I've had over the years have all had the ascendant in an airsign.

I have no idea why I seem to like having sun conj moon/sun moon in the same sign-people as close friends but my preference of an air asc among them I guess must be because I lack air completely myself.

Most of my friends are air or fire signs with water in the chart as a secondary element.
I'm not explaining this well but I've got five planets in air, I have a watery asc and the next strongest element is water.
Two of my best friends are the same (four or five planets in air inc sun/moon) with water as the next strongest element.
One of my best friends is the same, only with fire instead of air.

In other words most of my friends are yang signs with yin elements as their next strongest element.
This weekend myself (a gemini) and two friends (libra and aquarius) will be going away for the weekend with our leo friend. All three air signs with leo.
Also most of us have more fixity in their chart, which might explain why we've been friends for so long.

Also most of us air signs are attracted to water signs, or are in a relationship to them, whilst the fire sign is attracted to earth. I think it demonstrates the elements theory where air-water attract and fire-earth attract. I've mentioned this before so won't go into it more. But that's the trend I've noticed.

Pretty much all of my friends are strong in Saturn-like characteristics, whether it is because a lot of their planets are ruled by Saturn, or Saturn is their strongest planet. The ones that are closest to me are more serious, melancholy, and have very difficult lives and/or roots. My friends usually have a fire Moon sign, but that is not always the case. I tend to have an instant connection with fire Moons, though. I have had a few friends with Cancer Moons, but the friendship has a lot of ups and downs vs. my fire Moon friends. The friends I've had the longest are primarily mutable with water ASC, strong in earth and fire. I am mostly earth and fire, and pretty balanced as far a cardinal/fixed/mutability characteristics go, though slightly less mutable. I am deficient in air, and my airy friends are not as close to me as my other friends. I keep them at a distance and the relationship tends to be more superficial, though I am sure they THINK they know me. This year I attempted to be friends with a strong water, and that was a brief but memorable friendship with a bad blow-up in the end.

I tend to gravitate towards Fire/Water people (my mom and dad are very heavily Fire/Water folks and Fire is one of my weaker elements). I like being around all that enthusiasm and excitement.

I, too, tend to be around a lot of Air Rising folks. And the three people I can confidently say I've been in love with each individually have repetition between their Sun/Moon/Rising signs (a double Aquarius, a double Scorpio, and a double Aries). It was interesting that you noticed having a friend predisposition towards people who are double-something, too, sugarmoonpoison. I wonder what that is about... I wonder if there's some draw to that sort of focused energy?

I also am extremely drawn to Cancer Moons (as I keep obnoxiously repeating on a million threads, it seems, because I just recently realized how HUGE of a pattern it is for me). I've had many crushes on Cancer Moons, countless close Cancer Moon friends (and my sister is a Cancer Moon/Venus/Rising and my mom and both my step-moms have Cancer Rising).

I guess I'm probably not very easy for emotional people to deal with, which is why I can't seem to hold friendships with them (esp. water types). They often take things I say the wrong way, and some are not very quick to forgive, vs. I who have thick skin, like to argue/debate, and never really hold grudges (I never hold on to the same emotion for very long!). I wish I could be friends with other types of people, but it is usually them who cannot tolerate me vs. me tolerating them. I'm sure my Pluto square ASC makes me come on the wrong way at times esp., as does my Sun opposite Uranus (I can be a bit irratic in my behavior), and my Aries planets.

As a Sag Moon, I find all people interesting for the most part. But some people are better to know from afar, at a safe distance (for them!).

I dont know any virgos, at least only from a distance. theres one i like a lot, i think we're both coy though and have our own hemisphere to deal with. i think heavy mercury in a chart stresses me out, so usually i dont get too close to those kinds of people, i cant say i like arguing for the sake of arguing, I am very much invested in the idea of differences being natural and friendly in life, i think its my libran moon, aquarius rising.. i really need multiple layers of personalities with integrity intact.. too much arguing and debate can really make life seem trivial.
i know a variety of signs. mostly scorpio and leo suns
a lot of moon in capricorn and aries, also aqarius and pisces moons.
most people i know have some heavy aspect with uranus, people trying to be different, people trying to be people...

haven't had a lot of friends, but so far, I had two Cancer Sun friends, two Gemini Sun friends, two Sag friends, one being a double-sag, a few pisces pals-not close friends though, because they're too predictable for me, and a couple of scorpio pals-also not very close, because they get into mind-games, and I'm weary of those.

Well, all my fairly close friends I can think of have their Venus in either Capricorn or Scorpio, which are in harmony with my Moon in Capricorn and Venus in Pisces. I think this all makes sense in my case, because Venus is related to how we behave around other people, and as a kid and as a teen I was extremely shy, insecure and careful, you guys have no idea. Anyway, because of my shyness, I think my Moon and Venus was probably a more significant factor than for most people. Those who had Scorpio Venus's was also positioned in my 1st house, so I guess I saw them as Venusian characters, kind, respectful and accommodating. I guess I felt secure around them.

Another thing I've noticed before is that I prefer Fire Suns, and Sagittarius Suns especially. I guess that's because they bring forth the fire in me. I'm a lot more gloomy than my chart tells, but I've found I can let loose quite well around two of my Sagittarius friends.

Other than that, I think harmony inbetween your Mercury signs are important, or you're bound to be bored of eachother, and not to forget the Moon signs. I mean, if one of you likes to party for pleasure, and the other goes to the movies for pleasure, you're bound to grow apart pretty fast, unless the weaker individual of you is ok with being a sidekick, which tends to be the case pretty often.

Yeah it's interesting how different people bring out different sides within oneself. How some people bring out the side that's stiff as a board, others bring out ones depth and others the social party side etc. even though you're the same person with everyone your different characteristics needs to come out and play I think.

I have particularly two close friends, with one I'm usually more deep and philosophical while with the other I get more girly and my social side comes out a bit more. What's funny about that is that the first have sun and moon in leo and the other have sun and moon in aquarius and they both have asc in libra 25 deg, AND they can't stand each other!
They are the perfect example of the real life personification of polar opposites.

That's weird. So your Aquarius friend is girly and social, and your Leo friend is philosophical and deep? I figured it would be the other way around. Well, I guess Libra rising could shake some things up for your Aquarian friend. First of all, because of the Libran influence, but also because her Aquarian Sun and Moon would fall in the 4th or 5th houses, adding a tone of Cancer and/or Leo. And not to forget their Mercury signs and their aspects.

Well, aquarius is after all an airsign and there are aquarians that aren't all nerdy intellectuals, there are the likes of Paris Hilton, Elin Kling(the swedish blogger if you know+ ebba von sydow) - NOT to compare my aquarian friend with Paris Hilton haha!

          <<<
That's weird. So your Aquarius friend is girly and social, and your Leo friend is philosophical and deep?
          >>>

Well if you put them next to each other, yes. My aquarian friend can also be deep but she gives off a very light vibe, especially in social contexts.
My leo friend is very understated in the way she dress and wears alot of dark colors, she's kind of alternative and artsy and if you don't know her you might think she doesn't like you because she isn't all smiley-smile if you know what I mean. Her attitude is very russian-esque hehe.

While the aquarian friend likes high heels, quite chic, feminine clothes and she doesn't mind putting on a dress that's made out of shiny metal if she feels like it. She's a bit on the alternative side also but she's very much into things that's glamorous and over the top and her attitude and approach is very light-hearted and girlish while the leo friend is quite earthy in comparison (even though she actually doesn't have anything in an earthsign).

And when the two meet it's just a clash of the different worlds. The aquarians approach is polite, bubbely and a kiss-on-the-cheek and the leo just sits there completely quiet like the aquarian is nuts, and afterwards they both complain about how 'different' the other is from them.
I think it's a bit interesting that they have the exact same ascendant - 25 deg in libra as well.
Although virgo risings can really tick me off myself and I have a virgo rising myself.

For any interest on more details of their charts the aquarian has her sun and moon conj IC and mercury all in the 4th, venus conj saturn and uranus in sag(in 2nd), mars in aries in the 6th and jupiter in the 5th(in pisces). Her midheaven is in leo.
She has a mercury with only flowing aspects, mostly sextiles and one conj to the moon.

The leo friend has her sun conj MC(in leo) in the 9th, Mars(in leo, also conj MC) and the moon(in leo) in 10th, mercury and venus in cancer in the 9th. Her mercury has only two aspects which is one opp to neptune and a trine to pluto.

Both of them have pluto in the 1st.

Thx sugarmoon for that lengthy post. :)

I don't think Paris Hilton is a good example of a Aquarius though, since she have a Leo Moon. I'm not surprised that some of the swedish bloggers are aquariuses though, since it's a air sign. Anyway, I don't think Aquariuses are necessarily nerdy, but they definately have that detached coolness going on. Sometimes I get the impression that you just can't hurt them. I think it's the Uranus connection, they just couldn't care less about what other ppl think, so they rarely take things personal.

            <<

This is kind of what I meant with the Aquarian coolness. They give off this light non-offensive vibe, although they can seem a bit arrogant at times because they never reach out to you completely. The Leo is usually social in a more warm and intense manner. Of course, a double Aquarius can be social, but usually not in a warm and bubbly way, unless other parts of their chart points in that direction.

With your description I was half expecting your Leo friend to have a Cancer Mercury opposite Neptune. That sign placement and aspect alone would explain why she can't stand superficial and light communication. The Sun, Mercury and Venus in the 9th house is quite a philosophical placement too.

About bloggers Alex Schulman is an aquarius too if you're familiar with him. I actually asked for his birth time a couple of months ago, he is a pisces rising (although he gave the time 'just after 8 a.m.' -strax efter 8) which could make him an aries rising. He has jupiter in 1st anyhow but I think his virgo moon does the job for him, after the aquarius part.

I would actually say though that there is an aquarian type that actually is superficial, such as the likes of paris hilton and other similar aquarians which I actually don't think is solely her leo moon (even if it helps in the sparkely exhibitionistic department).
But air is actually more connected to superficiality than fire, including leo.

I completely agree about this take on aquarius and leo though.
On a sidenote I think capricorn can have a somewhat similar form of detached coolness as aquarius sometimes but in a less flakey and more earthy way.

But in my friends case the leo can be a bit of a stone face, but that might be her libra asc. Although I should add that she looks very leonine in her features and she is very leo-like also, she just is the type of leo that's more warm and calm rather than fiery and dramatic.
And yes, her cancer influences might give her some contemplative traits as well + her mercury opp neptune and 9th house positions.

So, Alex Schulman, the cocky bastard is a Aquarius too. :P Well, I don't really know that much about him really. It's interesting though how I used to have a close friend with the same Sun, Moon, Mercury and Venus sign. He even had the same first name.
Anyway, I guess you're right about Leo not being as fake as ppl give them credit for.

Yes, I agree that Capricorn and Aquarius both have that coolness going on, but I think the Capricorn coolness is more of a image and a ideal. We strive to send out a image of emotional stability (5th house in Taurus), but it's a hard task. I think that Aquarius on the other hand are more emotionally stable in a inwardly manner (4th house in Taurus), so they are not so stuck up on how other ppl perceive them, which is the biggest struggle for a Capricorn. I think there are two kinds of Cappys, those who are anxious and responsible to the point that they filter out pretty much the whole expression of their character, or in other words, they are shy. And then there's the other kind who are goofy because they just can't handle the pressure of being serious. Most cappys seems to have a mix of those traits.

Have you seen the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind? It's a awesome movie, and Jim Carrey (with his 3rd house Capricorn Sun and Venus) does a excellent job portraying the mind of a trademark gloomy Capricorn.

Leos are not fake. They are how they are, regardless of skinny perceptions. HUGE passions exist in them. They just mask them for the sake of others' inability to absorb them. Fixed fire burns amazingly long and strong.

                        About leos,

I agree with amiable, leos really are who they geuinely are. Leo influenced people are the 'take it or leave it' kind of people. They don't make themselves out to be something theyre not, they rather dramatize and accentuate themselves.

A Leo would rather be hated for who they are than loved for who they're not which is why they wouldn't dream of protending to be someone else.

I think vain or superficial is the word I was looking for. I tend to stereotype ppl as fake when they care a bit too much about their outer appearance, and Leo is definately more guilty of this than the other fire signs, atleast according to my experience. The question is if they are worse than the air signs, which I admit that they probably are not.

I thinks this thread has run before..
    Fire heavy people
    Water heavy people
    Saturnine people
    in general
friends usually have Trines in Fire or Water, dominant positioned Sag or Leo , full fifth houses or are Caps.

I cannot tolerate air or airy charts for long except my Aquarean freinds (in spite of being a Lib/Gem).
Can't abide my fellow venusian; taurus.
I don't jig with Scorpio, but it is more of a cautious approach than any personal dislike. The only two I know up close is my "ball-buster" aunt and my traitorous half-sister. And they have other factors that make them unusually disloyal and unfaithful.

usually something in the Sun, moon or ASC is shared with my Sun , moon or ASC harmonizes well.

Well... I've noticed that all my serious relationships (romantic) were all Pisces mooners. A cap, A libra, a virgo, and now an Aries. Also my Aries has a strong Pisces stellium with all his Pisces signs in the same planets that I have Scorpio. Weird.

This discussion has me a little puzzled. I've always had varying types of friends from different walks of ife and that is the only trend I can nail down. Taurus with an Aries moon, An Aries with a Taurus moon, an Aries with a Capricorn moon, a Virgo with a Libra moon, a Capricorn with a pisces moon, A Sag with Cancer moon........

Saturn and NN are in my 11H, with Saturn being part of a 5th harmonic triangle with the Sun and Uranus, and Uranus does sextile my NN

Nice question . . . some interesting replies!

Most of my friends have a mix of aries, taurus, and virgo in their charts. Sometimes libra and sag thrown in . . .

    here are some examples . . .
best friend (I've known her since I was 5 years old--she will most certainly be a lifelong friend of mine) is a double aries with virgo rising, merc in pisces, venus in taurus, mars in cap
virgo sun, libra moon, aries / taurus rising, merc in virgo, venus in leo, mars in virgo
libra sun, virgo moon, sag rising, merc in scorpio, venus in scorpio, mars in libra
taurus sun, virgo moon, cancer rising, merc in taurus, venus in gemini, mars in cap
taurus sun, leo moon, cap rising, merc in taurus, venus in gemini, mars in cap
sag sun, leo moon, leo rising, merc in scorpio, venus in scorpio, mars in aquarius
sag sun, virgo moon, sag rising, merc in sag, venus in aquarius, mars in aquarius
sag sun, taurus moon, libra rising, merc in scorpio, venus in aquarius, mars in aries (boyfriend)
cap sun, virgo moon, sag rising, merc in cap, venus in aquarius, mars in scorpio
best friend when I was a kid: virgo sun, aquarius moon, pisces rising

I guess I really like virgo moons. Both in men and women. I connect with them very well. Aries and taurus I connect well with because I feel like I can be open and honest with them.

Wow, this is amazing, I never realized that many of my friends have the same signs, just in different placements. Thanks for posting!

I always seem to attract female friends with moon in Capricorn, and male friends with virgo ascendants with predominantly earth and fire planets... Maybe its because I lack earth (only venus in taurus grounds me), and my MC in Virgo means I unconciously reach out for Virgonian friends, whilst my Venus opposing Saturn maybe indicates the attraction for Moon capricorn women. Once I was living in shared accomadation and I checked out 4 of the womens charts who i knew were living there...All had Capricorn moons.

Yes its weird ever since I started studying astrology I realized that most of my friends, boyfriends etc...were either Aquarius or Sagittarius whether it was their sun or rising sign well go figure I am a rising leo and my descendant is Aquarius I must attract them like magnets and then Yoda pointed out my 5th house is ruled by Sagittarius so I am able to have fun w/them, I haven't found one person who wasn't either or the other in fact I am estranged by one of my best friends for various reasons and I just started talking to her again and I asked her for her birth info well not only is she a sun Aquarius but she is a rising Aquarius with a moon cancer and I am a sun cancer I am starting to believe nothing is a coincidence ;)

Aquarius's are definitely my weakness though!

Yes, I'm pretty good friends & LOVE to hang out with fire signs and they make me laugh, I'm Aries sun, merc., venus... and also good friends with Libra--I'm Acq. Asc... and also Pisces--I'm scorp. Moon.. I've never dated an Earth sign or do I have many Earth friends.

most of my friends have no clue what time they were born. theres no real pattern that i've

notice with friends. fire and air signs make up the friends i have now. the women i date are

      always fire or water influenced.
