so i just did my natal chart in sidereal or vedic astrology and it came out pretty different than my western natal chart,,actually totally different...

Sun, August 26, 2007 - 11:27 AMwhich type of astrology is more valid? that depends on your perspective. both systems are valid for different reasons. some astrologers use both, while others swear by one over the other. i use western tropical myself though sometimes i think -- like perception itself -- astrology is a crapshoot and a gamble at best. then again, i dislike the feeling of becoming too dead sure about anything.
by the way, tropical and sidereal are not the only systems of astrology. you might also wish to research the astrological traditions of the Chinese, the Tibetan, the Mayan, the Egyptian, the Babylonian, and the Arabic nations for starters.
each of the world's cultures has its own maps and models, astrological and otherwise, to navigate the cosmos and make sense of it all.

Sun, August 26, 2007 - 4:53 PMI currently use Vedic astrology techniques with the tropical zodiac, with great results. Different astrologers use different calculations and different techniques, even within these different traditions. Find an astrologer that you like, or study the system you are drawn to. Anything you study will eventually bring you to a deeper understanding, even if that understanding leads you to move on to something else eventually.
