Lately I've been looking into indications of what signs the individual tends to be fascinated by or find attractive, without really taking the traditional meanings into consideration.
I found that the sign of ones moon, jupiter and descendant tends to be the signs that the individual finds most alluring or likable (or whatever positive term you want to insert). Actually sometimes not just the sign but a conjunction to ones moon, jupiter and descendant. Although this post centers mostly around the signs.
Now, this is only a theory so far, therefore I'm interested in how well you think this fits you.
Another side of this coin which makes this post into two questions is wether the opposite signs of your moon, jupiter and descendant(in the descendants case its of course the asc) are signs that you have a hard time getting along with or hard time liking. So I want to hear your opinion on this as well.
To make it clear:
1. Are the signs of your moon, jupiter and descendant (without order) representative for the signs/people that you tend to like a little extra/find attractive?
2. How about the signs that are opposing your moon, jupiter and descendant. Are these signs that you have a hard time getting along with or have more or less trouble with in general?

Re: An observation
Mon, October 12, 2009 - 9:23 AMJupiter in Cancer... I'm a Cancer magnet, and while they can be attractive in ways, they usually send me running the other way... or at least keeping a certain amount of distance.
Moon and Descendant in Leo... Leos can go one way or the other... I either really like them or they seem kind of boring to me. They can be extremely inspiring or extremely annoying.
Opposite signs... Capricorn... this seems to be the sun sign that I've had the least contact with. They just don't come into my life for some reason. But they do seem kind of attractive to me... a strange quiet intensity about them.
Aquarius... I love Aquarians, am typically infatuated with them. But, unfortunately, they tend to be kind of rare in my life.
This is, of course, all sun signs. I would think that someone with Venus in Leo would be very attractive to me... or maybe a Leo rising.
Also, it could be different for men and women. Carl Jung's research found that a woman's moon conjunct a man's sun or ascendant was often a sign of an enduring relationship. Women may be more moon and descendant based, while men are more sun and ascendant based. I'm sure there are exceptions to the rule, and this is something that may change with the changing of sex roles.

Re: An observation
Mon, October 12, 2009 - 12:47 PMI think some of this observation fits with my experience.
Moon: Scorpio
Jupiter: Pisces
Descendant: Sagittarius
opposite Moon: Taurus
opposite Jupiter: Virgo
Ascendant: Gemini
I am fascinated by and attracted to people with Scorpio placements and Pisces placements (especially Scorpio Moon or Rising people and Pisces Suns, for whatever reason). I don't feel as strongly one way or the other about Sagittarius. I like a number of people with significant Sagittarius placements, but I'm not drawn to them magnetically or anything. (Funny thing, though - my dad was a Sagittarius Sun/Mercury, Scorpio Moon/Venus, Pisces Rising/Mars.)
I tend to be somewhat drawn to having kind of sucky interactions with Taurus Rising individuals, but other Taurean types (Sun/Rising or heavy Taurus in some other way) I get along with fine, but, again, there's nothing particularly magnetic (or repulsive). I dig Virgo-y people, in general, and the same with Geminiian types.
The only sign I tend to feel weird around is Aquarius, particularly as a Sun sign. And I am strangely drawn to Cancer Moons. I also tend to gravitate towards Aries and Leo energy (so it's funny that I'm not as drawn to Sagittarius, since it's the other of the fire signs, is heavy in my family, and is the sign of my descendant). -

Re: An observation
Mon, October 12, 2009 - 12:48 PMOh - I should have also mentioned that, in general, I find a heavy repulsion/attraction thing with Scorpio energy. It's magnetic but I also feel tension with it. -

Re: An observation
Mon, October 12, 2009 - 12:50 PMDag! I need to preview! With 'other Taurean types,' I meant to list Sun and Moon. I get on with them just fine, but Rising tends to cause inexplicable issues. (I think I project onto them a lot, maybe.)

I like virgo, I like sagittarius, I like aries, interesting I find these three to be quite energetic signs in different ways -

Re: An observation
Mon, October 12, 2009 - 2:11 PMI get along with most of the others too, capricorn, scorpio, gemini, leo, cancer, and aquarius.
Course that could just be my libra stripes speaking. Lol.

Re: An observation
Mon, October 12, 2009 - 2:20 PMMoon: Gemini
Jupiter: Taurus
Descendant: Taurus
I find Tauruses extremely attractive. A high sexual attraction to them, but on majority that is where it stops. Personally, Im more attracted to Scorpios(my goodness lol), Gemini's, and Aries with water in their chart. If I had to put my money on it, I would say it would be one of those three I would get along with the most. Scorpios are the ultimate for me though. I relate to them the best, maybe because im heavenly Pluto and Mars ruled. Gemini's are cool as well. I never really get bored with them, but I would consider them more just "friends" than an actual partner. Aries....haha. I just like the challenge they pose with me. I but heads with Aries individuals but it is fun in a way. The passion is on a high here for me. For better or worse. I must say tho, people with Taurus heavy in their chart, have been drawn to me. They seem to like me alot and I feel that has to do alot with my ASC in Scorpio and Pluto conjuncting it. -

Re: An observation
Mon, October 12, 2009 - 2:27 PMMoon in Libra
Jupiter in Scorpio
Descendant in Taurus
1) If we are going off of pure sun sign, and disregarding any aspects that might chance the interaction, I would say...Nope Im not attracted to any of the above signs. Libra's and I never have any attraction beyond just friendship. Scorpio suns tend to have a very love/hate relationship with me, even though I tend to extract myself from that dynamic with them. However Scorpio risings...damn..bring it out! I've always had great chemistry with fellow Scorpio risers. There have been a few Taurus' that I get along great with, friendship wise. But usually my interactions with them only goes to courteous acquaintances.
The signs I tend to go gaga over are Sags, Aries, Gemini, Pisces, and Cancers (but that usually turns into this sick love/hate dynamic..so I try to stir clear now).
2) Aries opposes my Moon in Libra, and I totally have the hots for them. Fire signs in general tend to get me all hot and bothered, well unless your a super ego manic type of Leo..then its to much attention needing for me.
Technically from your assessment, I should be into Scorpios, Taurus because they are my Jupiter and descendant signs, but they are also the opposite signs as well..so I should not like them. haha, confusing! -

I don't think I'm only referring to sunsigns, for instance if one has the moon, jupiter and/or the dsc in aries I'm thinking sunsign but this might very well mean someone with prominent aries influence. -

Re: An observation
Mon, October 12, 2009 - 3:53 PMInteresting observations, sugarmoonpoison.
It would be interesting to see what people initial impressions were of people before they got to know one another, whether they had an immediate familiarity or had to push beyond to find the commonalities or likeable qualities. -

Re: An observation
Mon, October 12, 2009 - 4:13 PMAtalaya
Yes, that's a good question. My own experience is that first impressions - those kind of first impressions that are about people you instantly like or find familiar are the ones that are "true". It's hard to know peoples most inner selves by the first impression but when it comes to that special connection that you make with someone on the spot are the kind that I think tends to be "right".
As opposed to intellectually judging someone by style or appearance. Actually that's the difference, - special familiar connections that you make with someone spontaneously are a first impression that's made out of gut feeling and intuition which tends to be right. While the intellectual forming of opinion about someone are the ones that tends to prove wrong later on. -

So true! Whenever I second guess a strong initial reaction to someone, I'm always wrong. Then I get mad at myself for doubting those feelings. =/

Re: An observation
Mon, October 12, 2009 - 4:58 PMThank you for the response, sugarmoonpoison,
Very true in my experience as well. I also notice that the element connected to sign can bring out varying aspects of oneself that responds, while another aspect of oneself may respond to another sign/element aspect in the same person perhaps causing a push/pull draw. Perhaps dependant upon what planets/signs are in an active stage may influence what is listened to internally and acted upon externally.

Re: An observation
Mon, October 12, 2009 - 8:43 PMYeah, pretty much right on for me...Jup in Sag, Desc. Aquarius, Moon Aries...though I'm not attracted to Aries suns-too selfish for me lol. I do love Sags. Leos I have conflicts with, Geminis are great but not dependable for me, and Librans are a love/hate thing. My Venus is also opposite Neptune, and I've fallen for a lot of Pisceans. -

Re: An observation

"My Venus is also opposite Neptune, and I've fallen for a lot of Pisceans. "
Yeah that's actually a topic in itself. I have venus opp neptune as well and I have a real soft spot for pisces men. Two people I know with sun conjunct uranus have a thing for aquarius influenced people. I've thought about how aspects to the inner planets might effect what signs we tend to like a little extra.
I'm thinking if aspects (mainly conjs and opps) actually comes into play here they might act in a similar way to the descendant in the sense that we get the need to act them out and see them clearly by having a partner personify them. Especially if we have strong aspects to a planet that rules a sign that we don't have a planet in ourselves. Then the need for the aspects to become personified in someone else becomes even more important. That's a little theory I'm pondering as well.

"Ah, perhaps my Cancer Moon affection (and my affection for the Moon, itself) is related to my Moon-Venus opposition. "
It might, although the sign of your moon is already an indication enough, but the moon-venus opp probably adds to it.

Tue, October 13, 2009 - 1:24 PMErr...just realized my Jupiter is in Capricorn. Whoops...
I've never been attracted to Capricorn, but maybe I should start lol... My Uranus is actually in Sag, which is probably why the Sag thing never works out for me-in synastry, Uranus pretty much effs things up. But many of my friends have been Sags...my Uranus is in the 4th house in Equal and 5th in Whole Sign.

Tue, October 13, 2009 - 10:22 AMI have has three serious relationships with Libras. One was 20 years. He is Libra Sun, Pisces moon, Pisces Asc. As a result, I haven't had much time experimenting with other signs.. : ) In fact, it was the question of "how can all these Libras be so different?" that brought me to study astrology.
I think Libra because my 7th house Venus in Pisces is attractive to them...? Although, I have 29 Aqua on the Desc. Would like to meet a Aqua man. ; ) -

Re: An observation
Wed, October 14, 2009 - 1:14 AMMoon in Aries
Jupiter in Scorpio
Descendent in Aquarius
Moon: Not attracted to strong aries types - too much headbutting though we get along very well at first. But the Venus in aries person calls to me. Perhaps that's because my mars is in libra.
Jupiter: Yes. My jupiter is at 0* scorpio and most scorpios I know are those born between 23-31 October. Less of the november ones. I have a venus in taurus so most taurians I know have their suns fall within 2-4 degrees of my venus placement. Love them because they don't rush!
Descendent: Not attracted to strong uranian / aquarian types though I find them very refreshing! But not really attracted to the leo types either but do appreciate their warmth.
I'm attracted to the cap/pisces/virgo/cancer combination. Usually the person has a planet falling into my first house or 11th house or 8th house, or conjunct my south node in cap. -

Re: An observation
Wed, October 14, 2009 - 5:10 AMMoon : Cancer
Jupiter : Cancer/Leo cusp
Descendant : Aries
Moon : Very attracted to Cancerous (no pun intended!) women or at least those that give off a strong "mothery" vibe with genuine love and warmth in their heart. I feel compelled to protect and defend them.
0ppositon Moon : Capricorn women are duds to me,for the most part. I have been involved with 2 and there was just no chemistry there and neither lasted long at all. Both were scheming and somewhat shallow. The Capricorn men I've known are generally uninteresting as well. I see their purpose and their value and can accept them as players on this grand stage, but in general I have not been able to stand Capricorns for long.
Jupiter : I generally get along great with Leos. The men and women can both dance on your nerves (with typical Leo savy) sometimes with that "how can you deny me?" nature, but as long as they are pure Leo's with the good of others in mind and not merely their own selfish agenda then they are fantastic company and worthy rivals, in my opinion.
opposition Jupiter : I've gotten along with Aquarians mostly, but their general detachedness is a bit of a put-off at times. Knowledge and individuality are invaluable, but without a deeply felt conviction for either ............then you're missing the boat. Its the Aquarians that miss that boat that turn me off. I'm a strong Uranian by nature.
Descendant : I am sexually attracted to Arian women. I usually end up in a battle with fellow arians, but my descendant is opposition Pluto, which explains that. The sex is rough
opposition Descendant : Libran women can be very attractive physically but I could go either way here. I have met a couple that I was very attracted to and a few that left a lot to be desired. I am usually very attracted to Libras sexually. A little charm and a little innosence.......

Re: An observation
Wed, October 14, 2009 - 2:30 AMMoon = Aquarius
Jupiter = Virgo
Descendant = Pisces
I have found that I have had "phases" of attraction to people of various signs, which have manifested rather synchronistically with meeting and getting to know more people of those signs than I previously recalled. I noticed this first in a long-standing and rather overwhelming association with Gemini Suns (and to a far lesser-extent, Pisces as well) that occurred during my early adulthood and lasted into middle age. Within the last ten years, I have noticed a preponderance of Taurus types in my sphere, although those relationships tend to be of a non-romantic variety. On tribe, of course, with its rather large Scorpio representation, I have become more acquainted with Scorpio types than I ever have before in my life, which has been a kind of major learning experience, especially with regard to those with Scorpio Moons. Now, slowly and subtly, ironically enough, I am finding that I am rather drawn to Aries types, and I have a number of speculations regarding the reasons for that. It almost looks as though as I have aged, my attractions have passed from mutable sorts through fixed signs and is now entering into a Cardinal phase, metaphorically leading to a new phase of "beginnings". This changing with aging makes quite a bit of sense to me since one changes in the process of learning and growing, obviously, if one keeps doing those things. It stands to reason that what attracts us and what we attract would follow suit.
I find it really difficult to discuss the flip side of this ~ what signs are "hard to get along with" ~since it often comes about that the very things that have attracted us in past times cease to maintain their appeal later on. There is likely to be a kind of core level of preferences, but these likely will be based less on signs than on aspects, imo.

Re: An observation
Wed, October 14, 2009 - 2:47 AMMoon in Sag
Jupiter in Leo (why is Jupiter involved in attraction?)
Desc in Cap
1. Are the signs of your moon, jupiter and descendant (without order) representative for the signs/people that you tend to like a little extra/find attractive?
My descendant, yes, the other two not so much. I'm rarely attracted to Leo, but did go through a short period in my youth. I am usually annoyed with Sags Suns, who I seem to attract but do not return the sentiment, but I have a connection to Sag Moons. Aires is the only fire sign that I am usually attracted to (Mars in Aires). Cap is usually the Sun sign or ASC ruler of the men I am attracted to. I am usually friends with strong Leo and Sag, not attracted to them.
2. How about the signs that are opposing your moon, jupiter and descendant. Are these signs that you have a hard time getting along with or have more or less trouble with in general?
Opposing signs = Gemini, Aquarius, Cancer. I get along well with strong Geminis and am attracted to them, but Aquarius women in particular have always been a problem for some reason (probably because their planets are in my 8th). I don't have issues with Cancer types, but I don't know many that I am close to or are attracted to (they are too moody). -
