I would love to learn more about Mutual Reception. I recently came across an article that says My Sun in Aquarius And Saturn in Leo are in mutual reception. I had never heard of this before. The planets are in opposition with Sun in 12th and Saturn in 6th. What does this mean for me? Are the planets supposed to behave differently? Do any of you have an aspected mutual reception and how does it change things?

Here is a quote from the article I read.

Re: Mutual Reception....
Sun, November 26, 2006 - 12:28 PMI also have Jupiter in Taurus and Moon in Cancer which I just read an article that states
"Mutual reception is not limited to exchange of the signs of dignity of rulership. Ancient and medieval astrologers gave equal force to mutuality obtained by planets being in each other's signs of exaltation--for example, Jupiter in Taurus in a chart where the Moon is in Cancer. Jupiter is exalted in the sign of Cancer; Moon is exalted in the sign of Taurus. This is a very powerful mutual reception, not only because Taurus and Cancer are in a sextile aspect to one another, but also because the Moon is also in its own house in Cancer. This placement would tend to give a notably generous and probably religious individual, with a good deal of luck and talent."

Re: Mutual Reception....
Sun, November 26, 2006 - 8:38 PMA mutual reception is, in many ways, like a conjunction. With each planet in the sign of the other, they are in communication as though they shared the same degree of the same sign.
Think of it like two friends who agree to swap houses for awhile. The Sun person spends time in the Saturn person's house, and the Saturn person spends time in the Sun person's house. Each person has as much freedom in the house they are in as they are willing for the other person to have in their own house....and the responsibility as well, so each person is on their best behavior where they are because of the golden rule (do unto others as you would have them do unto you.) The two planets have a very positive connection, each showing its best side to the other, and they are always in communication with each other.
Not only that, but they add extra support during difficult transits. If one of them is squared by a transit, for example, that body seems to have an ally in dealing with the event in the other planet, the one that it is in mutual reception with.
Mutual Reception by exaltation is not as much used in peronal charts as it is in horary charts. Personally, I have not found a mutual exaltation to be significant in personal chart analysis.

Re: Mutual Reception....
Mon, November 27, 2006 - 2:13 AMbut zane...
would you still say the sun in aquarius, and saturn in leo is a mutal reception...
sun in aquarius is in its fall, the ego in the signs of groups and detachment
saturn in leo is in detriment, saturn in the sign of ego and self expression
i have jupiter in capricorn , in detriment.. but with a cancer moon opposing it, and ruler saturn sextiling jupiter and trining moon... what do you say
one other question..
saturn in scorpio is very prominent in my chart, touches almost everything and rules houses 9,10 and 11th....
being in scorpio is it diposited by mars or pluto..... and how far does one go in retrieving the ruler... saturn/mars is in scorpio, pluto the ruler in libra, venus the ruler in leo and the sun in leo... so the sun ultimately rules it?
also i heard something that with mars and saturn in scorpio, mars wins out being in its own sign... with saturn being on the mars/pluto midpoint, and the capricorn midheaven receiving a sextile from mars and a square from pluto..... i think connection between saturn and mars/pluto is a major player....
hope to hear from you,

Re: Mutual Reception....
Mon, November 27, 2006 - 9:20 PMHi, Giancarlo,
Actually, a mutual reception with Sun in Aquarius and Saturn in Leo is quite strong. Why? Because remember, each planet in a mutual reception draws support from the other sign. The Sun in Aquarius is not strong for the Sun, Saturn in Leo is not strong for Saturn....but each becomes stronger because of the mutual reception.....each draws the strength from its own sign. (Some people like to read the planets like they also live in their own signs as well.)
As for your Jupiter situation....not exactly sure what you are asking. Jupiter in Capricorn is limited because it represents structured growth, so it is not as free-flowing as Jupiter would like. Saturn sextiling it is very postive for planned growth, planned expansion, planned learning, planned teaching. The Moon in Cancer opposing it would of course be very strong here because it is in its own sign. The opposition shows that you you have to reconcile the Jupiter-structured-growth with your instinctive need for security and nurturing....but the opposition is still a working aspect....the two sides can work together if you have common goals for them, and the sextile and trine from Saturn only serves to give validation when the two sides find an appropriate goal to work towards.
Your question about Saturn in Scorpio.....we had some threads not too long ago about final dispositors.
Basically, you keep following the chain until all the planets are examined. If every planet in the chart, step by step, deposits back to one planet, that is the chart's final dispositor and very significant. If there is no single planet in this position, then there is no final dispositor, and you have perhaps 2 or more chains of influence.

Re: Mutual Reception....
Mon, November 27, 2006 - 8:04 PMYes, I understand it perfectly with the example you laid out before me. Thank you for clearing this up for me. I am also glad to know they can be of assitance to each other(Sun/Saturn) during tough transits and that the connection is positive.
Too bad for the Jupiter/Moon not being as significant because of the two, this is the one that sounds more like me to me.

Re: Mutual Reception....
Tue, September 18, 2007 - 11:33 AMhey i have some mutual reception goin on. i see it as inseparable (conjunctiont) best friends that can play at eachothers houses, rather than one always being the guest in the others home. my mutual reception is between aries and cancer. my sun is in cancer and my moon is in aries, but the specific mutual reception occurs between the moon in aries and mars in cancer. i tend to be happiest when i come forward and share my reflections and feelings. this could be stimulated by my precise conjunction of mars and mercury as well. i believe my sun in cancer influences me to honor my emotions for my conscious evolution, and my moon likes the fire/water cusp, so in a circular way, i am an aries that can swim and breathe underwater.

Re: Mutual Reception....
Thu, August 28, 2008 - 1:04 PMInteresting topic - I think I have several mutual receptions or perhaps mutual exaltations. Please let me know what you think...
mercury in aquarius + uranus in virgo
mars in pisces + neptune in scorpio (due to co-rulership?)
mars in pisces + venus in aries (due to exaltation?)
mars in pisces + jupiter in aries (due to co-rulership?)
