I was inspired to write after reading through the posts on Paul's "Closest Aspects" topic.

I just discovered this today! I got chills reading the following description, which was found in some past life report written for danny de vito . . .

"Like the brilliant diamond which is formed through intense and concentrated pressure, you are intended to develop inner depth, strength, and maturity through periods of intense aloneness, and what one might deem hardship. Early on you may well be required to face difficult circumstances or take sole responsibility for yourself, possibly due to the loss or lack of a strong relationship with your father. You may feel that you will never measure up to your father's expectations of you, that he disapproves or is disappointed in you, that you are not quite enough. In response to this you may become super responsible and conscientious, working extremely hard to achieve or be something that will make your father proud, even forcing yourself into some mold, or inhibiting certain essential aspects of yourself in order to be taken seriously. You may be prone to intense self-doubt and inclined toward excessive guilt, all of which tends to shroud your life in subtle, pervasive ways, and a constant sense of struggle and effort and of having to do it all alone may result. It is true that, in many ways, you will have to stand alone in this life, and cut off from the usual avenues of support, you will be developing true self-reliance, self-definition, and self-responsibility. You may have to break away from your father, his values, or way of being in order to truly be yourself. And, you will be repeatedly tested, which makes you quite aware, probably too much so, of your own limitations and inadequacies. Through this process, however, you will develop a certain toughness and strength you did not have before. Beware of becoming too hardened and serious, however, or of becoming the demanding perfectionist, the severe taskmaster towards other people. Keeping your heart open through the trials of your life rather than succumbing to cynicism or self-condemnation, will certainly enable you to move forward on your path more easily."

Anyway, I'm just wondering if anyone else shares this aspect and if you find you can relate to the description above? I am just in awe of how completely relevant it is in my own life. The orb of this aspect in my chart is 0'08*, making it the tightest aspect my chart.

Thanks

I don't have this, but I do have one of Venus to Saturn, and I agree that this aspect does have relevance for me even though it is a minor one. I think for some of us the minor aspects can be as important, if not more so, than some of our major ones.

maybe it has to do with how strong the aspect is? Also, I feel that, in general, harder aspects are more noticeable than "soft" ones, at least for me, but maybe that's because I tend to focus on what is difficult in my life rather than what is easy for me to deal with

Definitely. That's one tight orb for you. Maybe minor aspects to Saturn in particular seem to resonate with people. I wouldn't call this aspect that difficult, though. Not like a conjunction, square or opposition. The planets work better at fixing the issues in minor aspects. Like for me I have always been aware of something like Saturn cooling off Venus expression, such as in my gifts in artistic endeavors and also in romance, but it is not so bad that there is a complete lack of it all together or the feeling that I can't get past it. It is just more difficult for me than someone with no Saturn contact, or with a soft aspect. Someone like Hitler, who has a strong Venus-Saturn square, may not even realize that they do not give or receive of Venus properly. Had Hitler not had that aspect, which probably made him feel unloved and very unhappy, he might not have been such an evil person.

Anyone with hard Saturn aspects is likely to focus on the difficult stuff.

    In the book,HOROSCOPE SYMBOLS

Robert Hand said that 8th harmonic aspects under 1 degree could be more significant than a square of 6 degrees

semisquares, sesquiquadrates are regularly used in Cosmobiology and Uranian Astrology. those aspects along with the conjunction, opposition, and square are used used with midpoints and overall to look at events.
trines and sextiles aren't used with midpoint nor to look at events. those are viewed as psychological conditions

therefore, I am not surprised that you can identify with Sun sesquiquadrate Saturn with 8 minutes of arc.

They are not really minor aspects. They just require smaller orbs.
