I have my sun in the twelth house, and a few of my considerably closer friends have many planets in there too. I've read it's supposedly good to have a planet there and that it's supposedly bad. Some of this and some of that.
Well... which is it?

Re: your 12th house
Tue, October 16, 2007 - 9:28 AMi'm afraid it's neither good or bad to have 12th house planets; it just is. and like anything that "just is", what you make of it is what makes it good or bad for you. the 12th house refers to the human need for solitude and retreat...the need to withdraw, be alone and go within. some people think that's good, others think that's bad and then there are those who think it "just is". me personally, i think it's good. but then again, i see most things as good. i'm an optimist.

12th house can be difficult to get an intellectual handle on, however (and because) it holds the ultimate truths that the mind is too feeble to process. -

Re: your 12th house
Tue, October 16, 2007 - 10:14 AMgood or bad for what?
planets are weaker in the 12th house, meaning they have less ability to create the things which they naturally represent or the things of the houses they rule. the 12th house is a house of loss and expense, so it can create loss and expense around that planet.
BUT, the most important thing to consider is a planet's dignity. a planet in good dignity in the 12th can be great. it can help you to meet your expenses in life, make you generous and willing to give of yourself, and it can enhance your spiritual life. remember to look at the lord of the 12th house too to understand its outcome.
I agree, the 12th house isn't good or bad - it just is. everyone needs a good 12th house. however, in jyotish it is considered a dusthana (place of suffering), because it creates loss. it is the last house, so it has to do with letting go of stuff, surrendering over to spirit and releasing things of this life, including our egos and all our material possessions. so it's good for getting spiritual, good for taking out the trash, so to speak, and bad for things like worldly success and material acquisitions.

Re: your 12th house
Tue, October 16, 2007 - 10:51 AMI have Jupiter in Gemini in the 12th house (conjunct my Ascendant), and even though Jupiter in Gemini is supposed to be a "bad" thing because it's opposite the sign it rules, for me it has been very positive. I've read and heard from many sources that Jupiter in the 12th is like having a guardian angel always with you, where no matter how bad things get, you'll never be completely destroyed. I've experienced that "guardian angel" effect on many occasions. Also, with Jupiter being in Gemini, I'm good at writing and articulate verbally to the point that I can talk (or write) myself out of some very difficult situations, with I've done on many occasions.
I also have the North Node and Vesta in Gemini in the 12th house--not as sure what those mean although I've read that North Node is related to "good" or positive karma. -

Tue, October 16, 2007 - 1:01 PMI have my jupiter conjunct my ascendent in cancer by like 3 degrees, and i've heard taht it was supposed to be a sign of good luck and like you said a guardian angel.. I've noticed it too. Personally I think it's extremely weird how things turn out because in most situations I'm always like something worse could've easily happened... and why didn't it? I mean I like it, it's just weird. -

Re: your 12th house
Thu, October 18, 2007 - 12:51 AMI think Katrina and Stevo said it best:
The 12th house can be about solitude, going within, and dealing with things that may be a bit incomprehensible to the mind (though sometimes, it can be a bit comprehensible to a select few.) Some say it's the house that deals the most with karma and past lifetimes (I've read somewhere that many who were born in this life with 12th house planets have had issues from past lifetimes that need to be *purged* during *this* lifetime). The 12th could also be about accepting spirituality into one's life. In any event, I believe the 12th house to be the most complex and mysterious house within the entire wheel.
Many like to say that the 12th house is the house of misery. In truth, there are quite a few celebrities with an activated 12th house who have lived troubled, tormented lives, but, conversely, anyone can be miserable, no matter which signs, planets and houses are activated within the chart. Look at Madonna - she is *incredibly* successful, and she has been for many years now. She has had her trials and tribulations, but somehow, she's managed to stay on top. She's got 3 or 4 planets in her 12th (Sun and Pluto being two of them), and it's the most activated house in her chart, and she's doing pretty damn good *all* around. -

Re: your 12th house
Thu, October 25, 2007 - 4:44 PMTrue, because Pisces rule the 12th house...and neptune rules pisces...Neptune usually dissolves everything it touches...say for instance mars in the Mars in the 12th...its difficult for mars to actually manifest in the 12th house because neptune dissolves the mars energy...so i guess you could say the same thing for Mars conjunct Neptune. -

Fri, October 26, 2007 - 7:42 PMI wonder if the 12th house can have the opposite expression.... Knowing what others cannot see in you persay...
Like I have a Moon in the 12th, Trine Neptune in the 4th, Sextile Sun, Mars and Pluto. I notice that I can be erupting inside, and no one even notices.... I have the ability to reveal what I want to be shown.... Kind of like having the ability to blend. Supposely the 12th house deals with bondage what-not....Emperors New Clothes kinda deal.....
Moon in Virgo... Well my mother worked for the church and in a hospital all of her life... Go figure.

Re: your 12th house
Wed, October 17, 2007 - 9:07 PM"Good" or "bad" seems to be a matter of perspective...or astrologer.
Take in what you've read, then get a feel for what sounds/feels right to you. I think astrology can exist independent of astrologers.
Just an observation.
