Well...what is everyone's take on this? I know about Ophiucus and whanot...but are today's charts in line. I'm born 1/1. Am I a Cap or a Sag? I feel like a wise old goat...but recently I have been feeling like I'm a maniacal archer shooting and shooting and shooting. Is there some explanation to why the dates are different and which set are right?

Re: The correct dates for signs?
Sat, September 1, 2007 - 8:45 PMtheres no such thing as correct dates (at least concerning the SPECIFIC days a sign starts or ends) because they... simply do not exist. the whole thing of adding and substracting a day every four years, different time zones where there should be none or more than one (china for example) or whatever, renders these kind of dates kind of useless
regardless if you were born in 1/1, you should go to astro.com and cast your own chart, precision is the only way to go.
YET. if youre a purist. 1/1 is DEFINITELY capricorn, as it starts on december 21, or 22. so january 1, yes, definitely saturnian. lol. -

I second that!
use whatever system *resonates* with you & don't worry about other people possibly being different & having other preferences than you do

Re: The correct dates for signs?
Sun, September 2, 2007 - 9:33 AMI was told by someone that astrologers may have their dates messed up because certain aspects of time weren't accounted for at one point, so a person who's said to be one sign, may actually be another. Even if this isn't true, I can certainly see this in certain cases, and I see descriptions and behaviors of certain signs relating more to another. Descriptions I see of Taurus relate to me more with Gemini and descriptions of Geminis seem to me to relate more to Cancers and Scorpios seem to me more like Saggies and Saggies seem more like the Scorpios. -

Re: The correct dates for signs?
Mon, September 3, 2007 - 10:19 PMthis site is talking about constellations, but the zodiac of western astrology is tropical - it has nothing to do with star constellations. the tropical zodiac refers to the sun/earth relationship and the seasons. the sun at spring equinox is at 0 degrees aries, at summer solstice is at 0 degrees cancer, etc.
the sidereal ("of the stars") zodiac is another story. the greeks started naming the constellations after the twelve signs of the tropical zodiac circa 300a.d. these constellations do not represent equal 30 degree portions of the night sky (ex: scorpio takes up like two signs worth!), and i think that's what this site is referring to.
indian (vedic) astrologers, however, have been using equal sidereal signs for a long time, but who knows what vedic astrology used originally. i currently practice vedic astrology with the tropical zodiac, but i am still testing things out, and it's a slow process...
