No it is not the same, read my 1st post plz. You can check it yourself if you dont believe me.

Do you mean in general or with certain house systems they don't work?
_______________________________________________________

No, in this particular chart. ASC/DSC and its rulers were not activated at all (I used all the mentioned house systems) , according to Placidus system the guy has MC and ASC both at 11°0'Sco so this makes sense. When he got married and had a kid MC /IC was not triggered >> 4th and 5th house cusps and planets were! MC/IC worked for other events.

Fair enough. I tend to use Koch or Placidus myself, but am also comfortable with Equal.

"I have looked at progressed aspects to the angles/planets and I can say ASC/DSC line does not work at all, MC/IC works "

Do you mean in general or with certain house systems they don't work? Surely the Asc is the same regardless of house system?

well the very idea of equal houses for in everyone's chart seems off to me but what's more important when you do a rectification or just look for aspects (solar arc, progression or transits) for the significant events, sometimes house rules and the angles are not activated but house cusps are, equal does not work in such cases at all (I mean nothing is activated!)

so I played with different house systems and this is what I have:

I have looked at progressed aspects to the angles/planets and I can say ASC/DSC line does not work at all, MC/IC works

I checked Koch, Equal from ASC (the one they have on astro.com) Equal from MC, Regimontanus and Placidus.

Hands down Placidus worked for all the events: when he got married and then his son was born >> 4,5 house rulers and cusps were activated. The other house systems did not show most of the events I had to check. I also checked solar returns for those years >> Placidus worked again.

in one word, Placidus rules, lol

The closer you get to the poles the more bizarre the houses will be in house systems like Porphyry and Placidus etc. and I believe this person was born within the Arctic Circle?

Equal house is arguably the oldest house system ever used. What doesn't make sense with you about it?

btw chart is here:

The ascendant should be the same regardless of house system so something has gone wrong somewhere if the ascendants are different!

Bare in mind you can always use equal house if you want to!

my brother's friend asked me to do a reading for him and when I saw his chart I thought there was something wrong with my eyes! lol I have never seen anything like this! hmm I guess it has something to do with the lattitude cozz he was born in the Far East: they have polar lights September to April and polar night in June-midAugust omg, how am I going to read his chart if each house system gives him different ASC??? : 0

if I try Placidus: the guy has ASC conj MC exactly

ASC 11°0'Sco
MC 11° 0'Sco
and a huge 2H: starts in Pisces ends in Aries

if I try Koch: he has

MC 11°0'Sco
11H 11°40'Sco
12H 23°53'Sco
ASC 29°23'Sco
2H 3°29'Sag
3H 3°37'Sag >>> no 2nd house!!
his 3rd house starts in Sag and ends in Taurus!

if I use Porphyry he has:

MC 11°0'Sco
11H 11°08'Sco
12H 23°15'Sco
ASC 29°23'Sco
2H 23°15 Cap
3H 17°08 Pis

astro.com sets Porphyry house system (which I never used before) by default and I cannot change it to, say, Placidus or Koch...so my question is how do I interpret this chart? LOL, should I use Porphyry?
