I think right now tribe plays a very important role in keeping us connected, informed of events, allow us to discuss important issues, makes it possible for us to meet and get to know each other through different means than just the party scene. Personally, I have no interest in the other social networks because they would mostly connect me with people that I don't know and would never have more than a two line message swap with. But I do very much value tribe for connecting me with people that I care about and care about what they think, say and do. I would not want to lose that. I think tribe is run by people who care about building a conscious community. I think the fact that they cannot survive on the ad-based model is due to the fact that they are tiny compared to the other giants like myspace and facebook. That also reflects on their support services capabilities. To be honest I don't want them to grow that big anytime soon, it is best that it is a service that is kept for like minded people. If that means there some compromises we have to make as users, e.g. not having the best support, suffering a short downtime once in while, and not having support for postal service communication, so be it. It's totally worth it even with these inconviences.

I believe every one can afford the $5/month for a service we use on a daily basis. Just give up one drink a month and there you have it. Think about it, if tribe crashes tomorrow forever you may not know about any future parties and then you won't be buying those drinks anyway...

Don't make up too many excuses for yourself - if you think they deserve your support - just do it!
