Re: parent child synastry
Tue, December 30, 2008 - 5:44 PMLOL! Christmas! I see that you looked it up and found that your mom does, in fact, have a planet in Cancer that completes your Grand Cross. It isn't suprising, given the description you gave of your relationship, and especially because you have a T-square in your own chart. This is a common occurence in families that have strained relationships and difficulties in communication that persist into adulthood, after the child has grown.
Considering the strong influence of a T-square, or squares in general, it is important to remember that these aspects require a lot of time to work out "the bugs" and find to a positive and constructive way to channel for these difficult energies. Time is the key. How much time? As long as it takes!
Anyone who has these aspects, (square, T-square, or Grand Cross), should first learn to be patient with themself! Learn to love yourself more, and be gentle when you get stuck, or get confused, or frustrated with yourself. Don't be overly critical. Learn to be "wise" about it all, and let this personal difficulty you experience in your own life translate into an understanding, gentle, patient way of dealing with others who are similarly challenged. Rome wasn't built in a day, as they say, and neither do these challenging aspects turn into mastered skills overnight.
Regarding how many of us have similar synastry with our families? Alll of us! Maybe not a T-square turned into a Grand Cross, but likely loads of other major aspects to planets, mid-points, and nodes of our immediate family, especially the ones to whom we are closest, and/or to the ones who challenge us the most.
Excellent post, Christmas!

Re: parent child synastry
Tue, December 30, 2008 - 6:07 PMI KNOW< totally freaked me out, and makes such perfect sense that it happens to be uranus in cancer! i mean how else could it describe our totally chaotic relationship and her life. i feel like ive forgiven her but its been really hard. she was unable to leave my dad even though he beat her all the time and i was put in foster care when i was 4.... totally weird. totally weird. i really almost dont belive it. i guess i have a thing for connections and numbers and its sort of why i make art because i love living in that world, maybe its something ive somewhat created in a way, i wonder, it does seem so odd, ive never really seen such exact honesty in a synastry before... I know i am forever going to disbelieve and believe in everything all at once, no matter how hard it may be, i sort of feel like i have no choice, and i think it keeps me sorta sane, and as balanced as you can get, i mean i think stagnant balance doesn't exist ...
cool, i think you're really rad deb! your ability to relate to so many people on this tribe and give of yourself is really impressive... i think its the quality in humans i admire most and think is so special :) thanks so much for all your help!!
i will take great heart of your advice. its seriously something i need to hear. i think i just sort of made the connection to cancer which rules my 5th and my leo dsc too. I think my acceptance might be harder because i have some large leo-an boots to fill maybe? when i really think about it, everything about leo is what i want in life but what i totally feel inept at... oh shite, my nn is in the 4th too, crzy. i am half realizing this because of sonnah's dsc thread too. i am still milling over the bits of this though, i hope what ive hinted at made some sense...
thanks again!

Re: parent child synastry
Tue, December 30, 2008 - 8:07 PMI think you're right about there not being any sort of "stagnant balance" to be found. It is really more like an active "balancing" that reflects a real live existence in a very alive world. Give and take, take and give, always going on and on.
There is nothing to fear, or 'freak out about!" LOL! You'll find your way. Take small steps and you'll eventually find that you've come to enjoy the journey and forgotten about the destination! None of us ever really "arrive" because once we've found what we thought we were looking for, alas, we've found yet another thing to pursue! Hahaha! Off we go one yet "another journey." And so it goes,....

Re: parent child synastry
Sun, January 4, 2009 - 4:37 PMI'm not sure if synastry astrology works for me in my case.
My mother's AC with Moon and Mars conjuncts my MC with Moon exactly. There are a fair amount of harmonious and unharmonious aspects. BUT what made synastry not believable for me is the harmonious aspects-only synastry chart between me and my dad. He was fairly absent in my childhood, I've always had some sort of repulsion feeling towards him even after I started seeing him. If synastry was right, it would be quite an opposite situation than it is right now; with those all-planets trine and sextile aspects and a North Node-Venus conjunction...O_o -

Re: parent child synastry
Tue, January 6, 2009 - 2:42 PMThe thing to consider is that at a child's TOB, planet placement IS the transits the parent is having. If you give any stock to astrology, and transits marking personal/ environmental growth/ change, then a parent-child synastry should show very important changes and connections. If it doesn't, this is were astrology might be coming up short if showing some truths.
I have found many strong connections w/ NN Jupiter moon and others for parent child dynamics and even lack of relationship bonds. -

Re: parent child synastry
Tue, January 6, 2009 - 8:06 PMThank you Dragon of Q - This is an excellent point about the transits the parent is having as well. I know of a mother /daughter relation though where each others Jupiter are conjunct each others NN....

Re: parent child synastry
Tue, December 30, 2008 - 8:58 PMHi Christmas -
I don't think it's weird at all :) Parental relations are or should be very important or significant right? There's alot more to what meets the immediate theater of our lives. I am willing to hold the thought that many people in our life are here for various important reasons and that it should come as no surprise that astrology can and will simply reflect and speak to these reasons.
I recently looked at the synastry chart of a mother daughter relationship between two who took a class of mine and it was very curious to see that the daughter who's natal moon was exactly opposite her own sun...was... exactly (within several minutes) conjunct her mothers' ASC/DC! ...AND... her mothers Moon was exactly conjunct her ASC and her mothers Sun was conjunct her MC by three degrees!
Your mothers Sun conjunct your NN would suggest that you are pulling her forward somehow...hmmm...1st house opposite the 7th. It would be good to see the chart overlay here.

Check out the friendship chart overlay on my profile.... -

Sun, May 13, 2012 - 7:35 AMYes. I have seen sun/moon conj north nodes in many charts of parent/child AND adopted children who have one or more of these aspects. I find it very interesting.

Wed, December 31, 2008 - 9:17 PMI noticed the same thing with my mom.
It all makes a lot of sense, too. I can see how much I have learned from her. She has helped me quite a bit in learning how to express myself in so many ways.
It's almost creepy. -

Wed, December 31, 2008 - 9:18 PMwell - the creepy part would be the number of connections and how well they match important landmarks of our relationship.

Re: parent child synastry
Fri, January 2, 2009 - 9:49 AMI have seen so many times these Nodes + Planet Conjunctions in Child-Parent Synastries .
And what makes sense is that the Child is Closer to THIS Parent with whom he has this aspect .
There are Selena,Lilith Conjunctions also very often met .

Re: parent child synastry
Sun, January 4, 2009 - 4:42 PMMy mother and I have double whammy Jupiter conjunctions to each others SN and I have always felt like she was more of a peer. My fathers moon is conjunct my NN.
Although I have always been close to my mother is the sense that we operate like friends...my father has always been my spiritual advisor and the one I turn to for insight and guidance.
They have both been great parents.

Re: parent child synastry
Mon, July 9, 2012 - 10:10 AMI did the chart of a mother and daughter and they have exactly the same Saturn within a few minutes of each other. The Father left and the mother brought up the child alone and spoiled her rotten. They are so close that it is almost too much for them so the daughter goes from one day loving to another day hating the mother. I believe they are karmically linked from before with their Saturn's.
