Thousands of children who have dyspraxia are misunderstood and unfairly labelled, according to a survey published today. Sometimes unkindly referred to as "clumsy child" syndrome, developmental dyspraxia is an impairment of the organisation of movement which can lead to problems with coordination and simple day-to-day tasks many people take for granted.
But almost three-quarters of people questioned in a nationwide poll admitted that they thought behavioural and learning problems, common to conditions such as dyspraxia, were simply an excuse for naughty or disruptive children.

involving personal planets and points because of the hypersensitivity,nonlinear,
disorganization,confusion,naivete of Dyspraxics. Those are also symptoms of Omega 3 fatty acid
deficiencies. Omega 3 fatty acids are said to be connected to Dyspraxia
Fish and algae are strong source for DHA Omega 3 fatty acids.

It's that old philosophical debate about the nature of man -- naturally good or evil. Do we immediately assume "naughty" rather than confused, uncomfortable, out of place, overwhelmed, aware of other information, having different goals? Do we assume good, godly, wholesome rather than brainwashed, terrified, indifferent, manipulative, working an agenda? Do we assume that people will only do what is "right" when hit with sticks, or do we assume that rewarding "good" behavior is the key, or do we understand that complex combinations of drives and experiences give us each a blend of sociability and selfishness? It's not only thousands of children with x that are misunderstood and unfairly labelled. We all have such opportunities. -

As a person with Dyslexia,Dyspraxia,ADD who was in the special ed system for 3 years, I agree with you.
just want to help raise awareness of neurodivergent conditions and discuss about astrological indicators for them.....especially when many astrologers focus on astrological aspects as psychological symptoms when these same aspects are found in neurodivergents(Dyslexia,Dyspraxia,other Learning Disorders,AD/HD,Aspergers,Autism,Sensory Integration Disorder) like those children and myself. Especially the psychological symptoms and neurodivergent symptoms overlap. A lot of misdiagnosing goes on with neurodivergents and they get placed on medications that they don't need. I know this personally with my misdiagnosis of schizoaffective bipolar by psychiatrists without any neurological or psychological testing being done. That motivates me to be an advocate/activist for neurodivergents and be involved in mental health human rights activism. That's why I created a petition to stop the misdiagnosing of neurodivergents with a proposal that there should be mandatory psychological and neurological testing to differentiate neurodivergent conditions from psychiatric conditions and keep neurodivergent people from being misdiagnosed. prevent them from being on medications that they don't need which could be very dangerous.
There is considerable overlap of psychological problems and neurodivergent conditions. With Astrology as a psychological tool,it would make sense to understand neurodivergent conditions and learn to differentiate them from psychological problems which mental health professionals need to do.
I am against the use of psychiatric drugs on neurodivergent children....especially when antipsychotics are being used on them for off-label use. Children dying from them too. That's one of the reasons that I created a petition to stop the misdiagnosing of neurodivergents.
It's just not safe to be a neurodivergent person in today's society. I fear that if I have neurodivergent children(which is very likely),they will end up like the other neurodivergent children on medication.

Wed, January 9, 2008 - 12:10 AMWhat struck me in watching this Frontline was how they kept talking about changing behaviors with medications. They clearly admitted that these kids were being given treatments, powerful drugs with dire effects, that were not well tested, or even known to be clinically effective. Though parents asked for alternate, behavioral therapies, the medical professionals didn't even seem to give this a moment's thought. It seemed obvious to me that in most of these cases these families would have greatly benefited from well thought out family therapy, mostly about teaching the parents how to teach the kids appropriate behaviors and kids and parents learning better communication skills with each other. Even if there are chemical imbalances, or brain anomalies, the behavioral therapies would give better desired results than hit or miss chemistry experiments. Later, these kinds of physical imbalances could be addressed, but with less emphasis on drugs. Such considerations as nutritional supplements (or just nutritional education with an emphasis on foods having desirable effects on the specific areas of concern), physical exercises, bio-feedback, etc. could be a first round of approach. As to "special education" concerns: in an enlightened society all education would be designed around the individual learning styles of the student. There was the big scare of higher percentages of teen suicide without the drugs, but (and I have had many years of experience as a phone counsellor) these suicidal thoughts are likely about feeling the pressures of not fitting in, because we label these kids in the schools and neighborhoods rather than enjoying them, rather than making room for everyone's specialness. -

I am not a believer in AD/HD as a disorder that need to be medicated. I believe that it is an alternative way of being,thinking,and learning.
DRD4 has been associated with ADHD in various studies. A variation of
it,DRD4 7R is found to be closely linked to ADHD and a behavior called
novelty seeking. The human gene study suggests that behavior now
considered inappropriate in a classroom may be related to behavior
that once helped humans overcome their environment. Approximately half
of children with ADHD have the 7R allele. It's suggested to occur
spontaneously from 10,000 to 40,000 years ago. The discovery
confirmed Thom Hartmann's theory of ADHD as being a hunter trait. He

AD/HD is an inherited personality trait that involves alternative way of being,thinking,and learning and doesn't fit with mainstream schools which involves auditory sequential teaching methods and rote memorization which are weaknesses for ADHDers. I believe that education reform is strongly needed and need to get rid of the "one teaching" fits all. That's definitely not true. According to DSM-IV-TR....there are 3 types of ADHD
ADHD,inattentive type.......that's predominanty inattentive symptoms
ADHD,hyperactive type.....that's predominantly hyperactive and/or impulsivity symptoms
ADHD,combined type.......that's combination of inattentive type and hyperactive type symptoms
AD/HD has overlap with Dyspraxia around 50 percent. Dyslexia and ADHD occur in 30 - 50 percent of cases.
Also short term memory issues fit right in with both Dyslexia and Dyspraxia and not just AD/HD. I'd think Dyspraxic's short term memory problems are global compared to Dyslexics who might have short term memory issues with words whether written or oral(especially if they have auditory processing issues). Dyslexics tend to have problems with sequences in regards to words, and Dyspraxics seem to have global problems with sequences like problems with sequential memory for actions in connection with planning/coordination issues which are hallmark of Dyspraxia.
Dyslexia,Dyspraxia,ADHD overlap and said to have some connection with Omega fatty acid deficiencies....especiall y DHA.

DANDA(Developmental Adult Neuro-Diversity Association) has grown out of the Dyspraxia Foundation Adult Support Group, as it became clear that most people connected to the Group did not have dyspraxia alone. I am Dyslexic,Dyspraxic,inattentive type ADHD myself. I am not even sure that I have inattentive type ADHD because every one of my symptoms can actually come from my Dyslexia,Dyspraxia combination. Dyslexia,Dyspraxia,AD/HD share problems with short term memory,disorganization,nonlinear thought processes,thinking outside the box in common. Dyslexia,Dyspraxia share problems with directions,sequences in common and they can share problems with speech and tend to have history of speech delays. The Dyslexic's problem with speech is more with phonological,word retrieval problems.....Especially the auditory,phonological Dyslexics. The Dyspraxic's problem with speech is more with problems with coordination like problems using their mouth,lips,tongue.

Dyslexia,inattentive type ADHD stems from a predominantly right-brained learning style. Dyslexia and inattentive type AD/HD are often seen in highly creative individuals and are common in gifted children. In many ways, the symptoms of AD/HD may be the result of an unharnessed imagination.
A child's academic and language processing difficulties will simply make it very difficult to sustain attention,follow instructions,or to complete school work. It's important to make sure Dyslexia doesn't get misdiagnosed inattentive type ADHD.
