Yikes! this is a nasty looking chart. South Node w/Jupiter in 1st -- Mars in the 8th, Moon 2 degrees from the North node in the 7th house (other people)
Nodes in 1/7 especialy South Node in 1st i do not like. Sun and Saturn still right on top of each other. Sun/Mars square. Venus in the 12th,, ugh! Not to mention Merc Retrgrade, the old faithul boogie man.
There is almost nothing good about this chart, except Jupiter in the 1st (but jupiter is getting hammered by the Node)
yet there are favorable yogas, vara nakshatra and vear tithi yogas,, so this could work out,..
whaddya think?

Re: New Shuttle Launch Date
Sun, July 24, 2005 - 10:59 PMwell...this is going to be kind of vedic oriented.
ruler of the chart is mercury, stronger b/c its retrograde in a positive house of success (11). but its with two malefics, one the ruler of the 12H of loss and one very unhappy as it is very combust. not great aspects for the ascending lord.
if you look at the 9th lord, for trips, its in the 12H of loss. also not great.
actually mars is the ruler of the 8H so it protects it, so i wouldn't think wreck or accident.
A combust saturn with mercury might delay things? maybe with the 12H connotations there won't be the expected results that people are hoping for. -

Re: New Shuttle Launch Date
Sun, July 24, 2005 - 11:57 PMyes of course about the 8th lord in 8th, good point,, the ascendant degree is very weak though also,, barely in virgo and the lord of the Sun, Saturn and Merc (the Moon) is within 2 degrees of Rahu -- my first thought was retuirning home could be nasty (4th lord in the 1st - enemy sign w.south node) and also the excessive fire with MArs Square combust Satrun and Sun - The Sun is not too happy right now,, with saturn, square Mars --
i am not saying there will be a wreck, just not a strong chart at all.. it i hard to even see the action in the chart itself. My hunch here is that it will not happen that day.. simply because i can hardly see the result in the question - Mars as 3rd lord is in a dusthana -- merc is retro but that does not support details moving forward,, my hunch is another delay.. lagna lord w/ severly combust 6th lord in the 11th also with the 12th lord.. that 11th house is hammered also.. the aspirations will not be fulfilled.. My hunch - - 11th lord w/ rahu, Maraka in the 1st w/ Ketu - - we'll see,, the strongest. or only unambiguosly strong planet is MArs and he is in the 8th -- That Moon so close to rahu is the real kicker.. because the Moon is the energy of the day.. the nakshatra is a gentle one (Revati) but its lord is combust and retrograde in a great enemy sign that day,, also according to ernst, the yogas are the most important muhurta factors. but there lords must be strong enough to support the event.. Tuesday,, here is what i wrote in my forecast this week..
notice the tithi (7th) has to do with vehicles and it is inauspicious 7th tithi on a tuesday is "Visha" poison -- . maybe a problem in the craft with the fuel or poisons - contaminants..
=============================
Tuesday: Pisces (Revati) Mars|Jupiter|Mercury - 7th Tithi (Indra - Conveyances and journeys) INAUSPICIOUS. The Moon will cross rahu today so we must be careful not to get carried away with our mental fantasies and fears. Jupiter and Mercury, the two planets of the mind are important as we unite the detail oriented nature of the mind with the expansive nature of the mind. Mercury is the Lord of Revati, the gentle nakshatra that completes our journey home. He is also the Lord of a transiting Jupiter's sign, Virgo. Thus Mercury will be important today. Mercury is retrograde in the sky right now. Planets are stronger when retrograde, yet their external indications are not as strong. Their energy is very present in our consciousness when retrograde. Thus Mercury and Jupiter will make this a good day for study, creativity, especially writing and subtle forms of communication.

3H is protected as well...Mars aspecting into its own house. -

Re: New Shuttle Launch Date
Mon, July 25, 2005 - 1:40 PMyes i know that - that is right kalikat,, but 3rd lord is still in a dusthana..
Third lord awake in a dusthana, so the positive qualities of that would be removed - yet by being "protected" i guess you are saying that it will not hurt the event.. -- i tend to agree.. i did not mention 3rd lord much because of this, if the lord is in its own sign the house is fine regardless of the aspect from the planet -- unless there are malefics in that sign, then the aspect helps
but having something removed, yet having it not hurt you is different than actually getting the thing positively. that is what i mean. It is because mars is a tough planet for Virgo.. BUt it is better to have him strong. THis protection against death perhaps as 3rd and 8th lords are death givers, esp. for virgo.
the other thing about this chart - the quality of the Moon near Rahu and NASA admitting that they did not fix to problem that made them scrap the last launch is really suprising to me and shown by that.
PS i don't like the word "protected" i think it is misleading.. supported i think is better.. becasue the third house is getting rasi aspects from sat, sun, merc(Rx) -- and also the lord, but these other influences are there also. Frankly the third house is not doing so well on second thought - considering those aspects,, and i wonder if this self-willed "we're going to carry on anyway" attitude could come back to get 'em. Because if they don;t launch within the next couple of days, the mission is scrapped and they will have to wait until the fall, i think. The 9th house is also getting these aspects and the 9th lord is in the 12th. -

Re: New Shuttle Launch Date
Mon, July 25, 2005 - 1:43 PMBTW - 9th lord = luck, more than anything else in a horary chart, also a planet of travel,, so the 9th house and 9th lord doing badly will not support either..

Mon, July 25, 2005 - 10:00 AMNASA may go ahead with the launch, despite not knowing ahw caused the sensor malfunction a couple of weeks ago.. -- 3rd house/lord - self-will,, Mars in this chart, also the indicator of strong opinions..

Mon, July 25, 2005 - 1:53 PMwhew!,, well i am contradicting myslef a bit.. -- i goofed on my reasons here,, sorry - i was in a hurry - -- so i thnk this third lord mars in the 8th and the aspects to the third house are showing,, as well as the Moon /Node spin.. we'll see.. Mars is strong, aspecting and so perhaps that will be enough to get by,,

"The crew of Discoveryhad to put the craft into a spectacular flip to allow photographs of the heat shield to be taken. Nasa says that billions of dollars of research has failed to find a solution (NASA/AFP/GETTY IMAGES)
TWO astronauts will take a space walk today to inspect damage to the heat shield of the shuttle Discovery, hours after Nasa admitted that it had made a mistake in allowing their mission to go ahead.
Although Discovery safely docked with the International Space Station 122 miles above Earth after a spectacular flip manoeuvre to photograph the shield, plans to relaunch its sister shuttles Atlantis and Endeavour were on indefinite hold after Nasa ordered them to be grounded.
In comparison to the euphoria of the seemingly successful launch on Tuesday, an event intended to put America’s space programme back on the rails after the Columbia disaster in 2003, managers were once more in crisis mode.
Their three-strong shuttle fleet, they admitted, would never be fully safe to fly.
Questions mounted over whether the programme could weather another crisis of confidence after a near-catastrophic problem with the shuttle’s fuel tank was identified, posing exactly the kind of danger that provoked the burn-up of Columbia with the loss of seven lives.
