I heard in childhood your moon sign is the most promient in the chart?
At what age do the other signs come into play like the Ascedant, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter etc.

I think its probably true that as a child the moon sign is quite an important one, but I think that the other planets are still there in their latency and you may find they 'come out' during certain activities. Someone with a mars-ascendant conjunction may be quite sporty at school for example, or alternately be aggressive or over-competitive. I wouldn't suggest that the other planets are 'dormant' and get 'switched on' at certain ages or anything like that. More that over time they all develop more and more and continue to do so right through out the life.
Quite often ANY planet can be activated by planets transiting it.
